So lets not talk of 4-500k as fact, in theory it could be less than half of that.

It's a fuck up, whatever way you look at it and ultimately that's on Tony.

But hear me out.

Lewis Neilson was a young lad, who'd played less than 20 games for us, spent a lot of his time on loan.

Now, maybe the club just didn't see the potential that a lot of our fans appear to see, maybe they thought that he might not ever make it.

So, they held off making a decision on his future not contemplating that other teams might see things differently. Suddenly a bigger, wealthier team shows interest/contacts the player.

The player speaks to the then manager Courts, who thinks he should sign, but cannot give him the guarantee that he'll get any significant game time.

The player now has Robbie Neilson in his ear, promising him game time, more wages, his own scarf to twirl, the lot.

United think, Hearts? Fuck them, they now offer a contract because a team that can afford a fee, should be paying a fee.

Perhaps we might've not been fussed if he moved on, to a lesser team, a lower division, but to a rival that's different.

We've offered a deal to try and make a bit of cash but we've missed a deadline, maybe it's as simple as that.

Over the years, when players are just hitting the 1st team, they get a bit of interest, seen as a saleable asset and are tied to a deal, then move on, but the deal ensures we're compensated. United over the years have probably sold plenty players before we got the real benefit from them, but we've always ensured deals were signed so we were compensated.

So what's different here, why wasn't a deal done? Were we that bothered? Or is it pure incompetence?

I don't think we'll ever find out and I doubt that anyone would've raised an eyebrow if he left under FOC and went to the like of Ross County or Partick Thistle.

Declan Glass who most can see has a fair amount of talent, but is built like the gable end of a visa card, was given a new deal in plenty of time, Mochrie? as well.

I might be way off here, but for one player not to be done properly suggests a lack of enthusiasm from the club to get it done.

A lot of good points there.
For me it's 50/50 if he has a decent career in the game. He looked miles off it against Aberdeen last week.
But as your not laying in to TA  you won't get much support here.

Surprised me he got a deal. His last 2 loans have been disasters where he practically hasn't has any game time and cant even get of the bench.

Cant see where he goes from here ?

Mochrie doing better, playing 90 mins every week for a big club thats top of the league experince he will be getting is invaluble. Better than sitting on the bench for us eveyweek.

Re: Lewis Neilson

Honestly, I dinna think Hearts would have offered him a contract if they'd had to give us compo. The money they saved is now funding Neilson's wages plus the agents fees.

Sneakin suspicion the agent had a hand in this, coz IMHO somedy telt Hearts we hadna offered Neilson a contract.

1 We dinna offer him a New Contract
2 Herts swoop FOC (this phuckin smells BTW)
3 United no gettin compo
4 United go to Tribunal
5 Hearts win coz of Clause 1

Look at it from the players point of view, wasnt allowed out on loan, liam smith was playing in front of him at CB no wonder he was getting pissed off.

BTW tapping up happens at all clubs and at all times

Re: Lewis Neilson

I see he's benched today in favour of Toby Sibbick.

That's gotta sting.

There is no way that we didn't think Neilson was a saleable asset.  For a club that is investing so heavily in its Academy (and unfortunately producing little of real quality) Neilson would have been seen as a key asset.  If we genuinely didn't think he was worth something (which I can't see being the case) then we need to question our coaches' ability or at least that of their apps.  I'd agree with you that there is no guarantee that we would be talking 400-500K in compensation, it would probably be about half the lower number but that is a lot of cash to us.

Even if we didn't rate him, (which we did), we'd have been better offering him a slightly better deal (timeously) and then sending him to Tynecastle on a free with a sell on clause.

The truth here is that our current management are patently amateurs and have an over inflated opinion of their own ability.  There is no excuse for this and if Tony's sizeable jacket isn't on a shoogly peg then we are also patently fecked.

..... I'd love to hear what Mr O's got to say.
........  Hopefully it's not done and Mr. O acts - to the benefit of the club, because I for one don't know what's going on.

You're no the joker that used to go by the name of Marklands Svelte Touch are you ?

It's far from done.

The foundation are putting a fair wedge the clubs direction for youth development.

I won't be voting for another penny to go into the club if no explanation into why yet another fuck up was allowed to happen.

I won't be the only foundation member feeling that way

You're not. I'm not being treated like some sort of cash cow without some sort of accountability when we are fucking up on and off the park.

Too much commotion

The DUSG meeting on Thursday night.  Don’t know who said it but Ogren and Asghar were both there.
