Just once in my life i'd like to see us register a big win against this lot, in a game that really matters.
Every meaningful game against them i've witnessed in my 35+ years watching Utd has been a defeat (and normally a painful one).
Please Utd, just once.

It becomes a sore point. The decades pass and nothing seems to change. My first ever Utd game was a Scottish Cup semi replay against Celtic at Hampden, which we went 1-0 down early on, then came back to win 3-2. It was a wet night in April 1981 front of under 30,000 at Hampden.
The worst thing about the defeats in the 1985 and 88 finals was that fact that all the bloody neutrals said “Oh but you played well”. I wanted to punch their lights out. We lost, period.
The thing that does impress me about Courts, is that he seems to have instilled a winning mentality in the team when visiting Ibrox and Celtic park. I understand defending one goal leads is painful to watch, but, what wouldn’t you give for, just once, an backs against the wall ugly win.

In most of those games Celtic were the better team and deserved to win, however, several times we have been better team and somehow we have lost, with luck just totally against us
Bannon header in 88, game when we were in first division and one up with a few minutes left when a ridiculously bad decision for a throw in gave celtic possession and they scored moments later, another game where we were better side and kjell scored two great goals and then Erik pederson was involved in a desperately unlucky own goal in stoppage time.
Surely we are due a break at some point and can beat them

I’m 29 and have only seen us beat them 3 times in person (2-1 Dods, 1-0 Scott Roberson and 2-1 amo and nadir).
I remember listening to the Billy Dodds/Craig Easton 2-1 and Gary Mcswegan 1-0 chip wins on the radio.
It doesn’t come around often seeing us beat them but I’m quietly confident for tomorrow and I don’t know why.

Well that was fucking dreadful.
Not surprised by the result, but how many games is that this season where we have offered absolutely nothing up front?
Piss poor tonight.

ZERO shots on target.
Pathetic.
Absolutely pathetic.

We don't have a strike force.
With Watt out tonight it was 100% inevitable that we would lose to Celtic

McNulty should be dropped but who else do we play
Inevitable maybe but that doesn't forgive us having zero shots at home in a cup quarter final.
"In terms of attitude, application, work rate and commitment to the game plan it was evident that the players were fully on board and trying to deliver that to the best of their abilities.
“I think the frustrations for me are on two fronts; from an attacking perspective we have a couple of good moments we could have capitalised on and worked the Celtic goalkeeper more."
Tam continuing to spout absolute nonsense as well. Couldn't have worked the Celtic keeper much bloody less.

I think the players are on board tbh. But they know there is fuck all up front. Our midfield must be so frustrated. The two guys up top are championship players. Sutton made the point at half time that mcnulty doesn't work hard enough for the team. i watched both closely second half and they actually broke the play up more times than moved the ball forward to a united player. Mcgregor was dropping deep into the pockets of space just in front of the two centre backs and those lazy bastards refused to get tight to him or to follow him.....just pointing at midfielders. The young lad that came on done more in 15 minutes than Mcnulty. clark is a disgrace as well. Moaning in the papers about getting punted from Ibrox. He cant control a 15 yard pass, basics. Clark should stay off twitch and practice what he gets paid to do. We don't need massive surgery but we need to get rid of the shite cos we wont get away this two seasons in a row.

I would like to the young striker, (I will take the stadium announcer approach and not know his name) get a game on Saturday. Hopefully get Watt back as well.
I can accept poor players, in over 50yrs at Tannadice I've seen a few but a poor player with a shite work ethic not on
MCNULTY👋

So frustrating. We were just starting to make some inroads when Benji flogged that 2nd and that was us fucked.
I honestly think we have a decent group of players in defence and midfield but the combination of nothing up front and negative tactics/trying to walk the ball into the goal is killing us.

Miller Thomson. Agreed he did more in his cameo than McNulty has done in pretty much every one of his appearances this season.

Agree on most points here regarding last night.....we are miles away from an attacking threat these days, but........
Thank fck i don't support an IRA sympathising group of tossers like that lot... disgusting

Other thing about last night - it was great being in the Shed and I think it diluted their fans.
Going forward, give us the Shed when we play them and their mates from across Glasgow - even it if means having the Dode and Eddie T half empty. Fuck them both.

Considering what we were up against, I think we played no bad.
As loadsa fowk have pointed oot.
Our play in the final 3rd.
Nae supply to the forwards or inta the box.
Oor forwards dinna seem to trouble the oppositions defence.
Of coorse that's a recipe for "If he canna score ye canna win" cake.
MOTM for me Niskanen, but a mention for the laddie Miller Thomson.

Agreed, them and the other mob seem to think they are entitled to half our stadium when they are the away team. While I get the financial reasoning. Like you I'd rather have a half empty stadium than them filling it singing their sectarian shite.

That was a great reception you got last night Billy.
Maybe you should have stayed on the park though!
We had a good interest in the game up to Benji's slip, shame for him but that's what makes you stronger.
Enjoyed Butcher's surging runs, Meekison's cameo, Smith the longer the game on, bit of culture from McDonald, Thomson's dribble & defensive work (says on the Fishal he's a right back cum central mid who plays wide??). I wish Graham had Freeman's energy, he plays like he's half asleep & I nearly dropped off a couple of times when he was trying to take a throw-in. Edwards was fine, Harkes doing ok til injured, first time for him? Niskanen is a trier & looked gutted at full time, I'd keep him. Never saw much of Levitt & I always enjoy Freeman, must have taken a knock that Sporle came on for him. McNulty & Clark covered a lot of ground, no lack of effort but little or no service, Tom Thumb in his heyday wouldn't score for us.

Clark is worth keeping as a bench warmer for now. McNulty is total pish and needs to be off-loaded pronto. Yes they did a whole load of headless chicken stuff but neither did their defensive job with any effort or aplomb. Fat Tony surely can't think McNulty is the answer now? This squad desperately needs a target man upfront - how many years must we say this....

There's no way there hand ball goal is chopped off in 1st half if its them in the Shed...100%

Very good observation AM & in the same vein Hatate's tackle on Freeman was at the right side to avert the red card. The Dode side & Beaton would have had a harder job keeping the red in his pocket.
And I'm glad our players didn't 'do a Hibs' (on Sunday at M'well to get Mugabe sent off in the 1st minute) at Hatate on Monday, I was disgusted with Hibs. They surrounded Collum, jumping up & down in front of him & were all but fist pumping when the red came out. C***s. Our players' behaviour was markedly better & again it was at the Jerry Kerr side.
