No pace in the team, no real shape, no real skill or excitement.
Boring, insipid play.
Get Courts and Asghar so far to fuck.
Get modern futba so far to fuck. We’re not the only team playing this slow tippy tappy build up pish which is no coincidence. Look at other teams boards and a lot of similar comments. Look at the difference when Pawlett, Watt or Niskanen had a run at them last night. We have to aim for more of that. Pep Guardiola has a lot to answer for lol. All good when you have the best players in the world to play that way—how can managers of lesser teams no see it doesn’t work with average players?

The best player on the pitch last night was Paul McMullan.

This in spades! At least you knew what Mellon was trying to do. We've kept a clean sheet against the worst team in the league who's fans were, to a man, expecting to get thumped - woopyfeckingdoo.
I think we should have enough to stay up this season (although the next game really is huge) but I have confidence that if it carries on like this we are as good as relegated next season. We have a massive rebuild job to do this summer to avoid that.

100% agree with this. We now have a whole generation of coaches who have been brainwashed into - possession, possession, possession. Which has resulted in a whole generation of players who are scared to try anything that might result in the team losing the ball.
Contrast the this to say the team Tommy McLean put together in 96/97 for example. They were great at keeping possession but they did that by passing the ball forward and had players like Olafsson, Winters and McLaren who were not scared to take the ball and actually carry the ball forward and have a go at a defender.
I keep seeing United fans on forums and Twitter saying "we need a winger" - are there even any wingers out there any more?
Tek is correct - McMullan was the best player on the pitch last night. As usual though his final product was woeful - but at least he has go.

You’re right. In about 5 years there’ll be no wingers as a winger needs to put in crosses which nearly all end up cleared thus giving up possession which just wouldn’t do for most of your modern managers. McMullan might have been decent looking going down the wing but what’s the point if he ends up just smacking out or against the first man. Very few players out there that can beat a man AND put in a decent ball which is nuts when it’s such a basic skill. Do they just no practice anymore?

Im in agreement about modern football & Gaurdiola.
This season Man City 2-0 at H/T at Old Trafford. Utd player (Pogba) sent off.
Then city spent the next 40 minutes playing keep ball-90+% possession but no real attempt to score.
After the game Pep delighted with the performance- putting the ball in the fridge as he called it.
The Citeh fans were raging on social media that they didnt go for the kill and anihilate their rivals.
Managers have a duty to entertain the fans- football is nothing without the fans.

Just what would Jim McLean make of the modern methods. He’ll be birling in his grave.

Tuesday night:
Tam, hate to say it but sorry mate, get packing your bags. What worries me is unless we get a turnaround we'll have yet another mediocre performance v Saints, followed by who knows what v Huns.
Tam now commanding little or no respect amongt fans, and no doubt whispers in dressing room amongst old heads who end up playing for professional pride not the shirt. Once you lose the dressing room you're fucked.
But problem runs deeper than that. All Tony seems to do is feather his own nest. Silly season is when the man is supposed to earn his money. Who has he brought in ? Tam Courts, Biamou, the Arsenal kid, McDonald. Who's gone ? Lost count.
Malaise runs deeper yet, the buck stops at the top, it's all presided over by Mr. O who follows US principles and seems to be happy with phone calls to fat Tony and percentages not performances.
Wish I was more positive but if it keeps on like this I'll be hunting for the Stanley knife.
