Siegrist reportedly signing a Pre-contract with the Huns.
About the worst scenario we could have forseen, if true.
Still baffled by the decision to send Carson to Morecambe.
Could now be left with no choice but to play a Keeper who's signing for a rival until the Finn gets his work permit through.

Yeah, I mean we know Carson's a decent keeper, but we loan him out, but we're effectively replacing him and Benji with the Fin.

Totally happy to build up a Finnish group within the club. Kamara has been one of the best players in the country for 2 or 3 years - there must be others going under the radar (albeit he didn't actually play that much in Finland). Niskanen may be limited, but he's shown enough for the level of Scottish football we play. Surely must be a half decent big striker and creative midfielder playing in the Finnish league...
May as well go the whole hog and get Mixu back as manager and Riku Riski on the wing.
Back in the real world, the club are scouting right across the world. Although Brexit has closed a number of doors, it's opened plenty too.I'll give you Mixu's managerial skills but if you could sign him as a player again (the version that played for us) you'd do it in a heartbeat. Riski also holding down a place in Finland's best team so certainly no worse than Niskanen.
I am however interested in which doors Brexit has opened? Doubt it has actually opened any (in the real world), but no doubt you will enlighten...
Didn't think so...

Heard Butch met with Perth Saints this weekend but they couldn’t agree on a deal.
if that's true Roger it shows just how far Butcher's stock has decreased at Tannadice.
it's only a matter of months since he was king of the hill

Carson won’t be back at United.

Judging by that 1st goal he lost yesterday that might be no bad thing

Harsh. He's looked very solid for us, for the most part.
His last appearance at Ibrox he was excellent.
Though i share MockChop's belief that we won't see him again.

I saw that goal and yeah it was a flapper in front of 40,000.
To be fair he did have a brilliant save with it still 1-1, anyone see it?

I’m sure before we signed him, it was going around that he wanted a move to England. Hartlepool maybe, could even have been Morecambe.
For my money, if it’s true re Siegrist, as soon as the new guys visa is sorted hes our number one. Big Bluenose Benji can play back up

Agree that we'll no see Carson again; he's a really decent keeper but if he wants away down to England on a permanent basis then off you pop Trev.
Same with Benji, been a really good keeper the last couple of season's after a shaky start (remember Falkirk and Alloa?) but if he's no signing again and speaking to the hun then bench him and get the new Mad Monk in as No1 for the rest of the season.

So, looks like Kerr Smith's move down South to Aston Villa is imminent.
The deal could reportedly land Utd up to 2M if add-on clauses are reached.
No idea what the upfront fee is but i'd imagine it must be around 1M.
Hopefully we now go out and get Tony Watt and a couple of other attacking players.

That's some money for Smith. The club have done well. It's difficult to judge the laddie since some of his game time has been out of position. He looked outstanding against Motherwell last season, albeit in a game that carried no pressure. He was decent at Celtic Park this season but struggled against Kyle Lafferty last season. As a centre back he's defintely got something in the way be reads the game. However, I think Villa are going to have to seriously work on his fitness. In too many games he has played this season he's looked completely devoid of energy or urgency (Hearts 5th goal). At Ibrox he was blowing out of his arse after about 10 minutes and he was caught on the ball every time he had it.

I must admit i kinda have wondered what the big deal is about him. I know he is only just 16 years old, so i have fully tried to factor that into his performances.
But John Souttar impressed me greatly in his performances at 16, as did Ryan Gauld, and most recently Craig Moore.
Be interesting to see if the kid goes on to have the career that the hype would indicate he should. I hope he does, not just for Utd's sake (we need the add-on's), but also for Scotland's sake and the lad himself. He's at a great club in Villa.
I will say that up to 2M is great money for an unknown lad with just a handful of appearances, so Asghar deserves credit for negotiating that. Credit when it's due.
Now let's go out and strengthen the team and turn it into one that actually scores goals.. Sign Watt now and get another two attacking players in also (CAM and right sided winger). Show a bit of ambition and get the club back into the Top 6 and have a right go at the Cup this year also.

I saw £800,000 rumoured the other day. Do we assume that’s the upfront fee?

Given how quickly the move to Villa seems to have happened since that reported bid, then, yes, it looks like the upfront bid of 800k must have been accepted, now Villa have accepted the add-on's.
Are we now a bit light at the back btw? Considering Reynolds/Connolly are finished at Utd and we are seemingly keen to let Butcher depart. Only leaves Edwards, Mulgrew as experienced CH's and Neilson and Graham as back-up.
If one of Edwards/Mulgrew get injured we could struggle there.

Record Sport, saying once the Kerr Smith deal is finalised, we will move for Watt.
Not sure I’d be parting with six figures right now but if he hits the ground running & grabs a couple early goals I’ll forget all about that
Kev McDonald training with us too.
33 and 6ft 4.

Ex Fulham lad he had a kidney transplant I've got a few mates who support Fulham and said he was decent player and hard worker ! Could be decent move for us ,

On the face of it, spending 6 figures on a lad who we have already secured for free in June and then his wages (which are reportedly substantial) on top of that, does seem a big outlay for a club with our debt levels.
I suppose another way of looking at it though is if none of us knew about the pre-contract or even an interest in the player and then Utd just announced out of the blue that we had signed the Premiership's current top scorer for 100k we'd all be buzzing and praising the club for an ambitious capture.
For me it simply comes down to how much of that 100k is the budget for this window. If that is the entire budget even allowing for the Kerr Smith transfer and we spunk it all on Watt, then that would be a foolish move and it would be better spent securing another freebie Striker on loan (like Shankland) and another couple like a right winger and attacking central midfielder.
If we can, however, get Watt and still then sign another couple, then by all means the club should.
On Kev McDonald. He's 33, a defensive midfielder and hasn't played for ages. Seems a signing we don't need.
No harm in having a look i suppose, but he'd need to really stand-out in training and be better than what we have for his signing to be justified. Maybe we are just offering the lad training facilities.

Sometimes club can't win here....we are desperate to get in a goal scorer but don't want to pay for one!!!!
If we look at how valuable his goals could be to us 2nd half of season, that's the value Motherwell put on him as his goals are that valuable to them as well....get him in now i say.

Kev’s an unbelievably gifted footballer, if he can get himself fit, he’d probably instantly be our best player. Would be a very good replacement for Levitt in terms of his range of passing.
A few boys I know are good mates with Kev, so trying to find out whether we’ve just given him training facilities as we’re local for him, or if there’s a chance of him signing.

Heard MacDonald getting interviewed on Radio 5 a few months back. He was saying there was no expectations about ever playing again, was just going to train as hard as he could and see what happens. Was a good player by all accounts but 33 now so it’s a no from me. You’d think he’d want to sign for the fun if he got back to full fitness.
