Walter Smith RIP

Sadly Walter has passed on. Please use this thread to post your tributes and memories of a man who turned out 183 times for United, and was an integral part of Jim McLean's coaching set up for many years.

Re: Walter Smith RIP

Fantastic leader of men.  His role in United's greatest spell is often over-shadowed by Jim McLean, but he played a key part in our success.  By all accounts a very decent bloke to boot.

Re: Walter Smith RIP

He played his part in creating our greatest ever side and for that I am eternally grateful.

More importantly though from the stories that you hear and read he was a true gentleman.

RIP Walter.

Re: Walter Smith RIP

Great player.

He never scored many goals, but one great memory I still have of him, is when he scored the winner against the funsters at the dump.

Fare ye well Walter.
