Utd v Hibs - League Cup Quarter Final - Thursday 7.45pm

We are really, really long overdue giving this lot a game and getting one over them.

We have only beaten them once in the past TWELVE meetings, stretching back to when we were last decent (2014).

And in that time Hibs have knocked us out of the Cup (Scottish) on three different occasions including defeating us at Hampden twice. Suffice to say i've started to take a bit of a mild dislike to the the men from Leith in recent times due to them always seeming to get one over us.

Performance and style of play goes out the window in these type of games. Only thing that matters is that we win.

Though both would be nice (performance and victory).

My team would be  -

...........................Siegriest.........................
Freeman.....Edwards..Mulgrew...McMann
...................Butcher...Fuchs................
............Pawlett...Harkes....Appere....
.............................Clark.................

Subs -
Carson, McNulty, Niskanen, Levitt, Sporle
L.Smith, K.Smith, Reynolds, Watson

I’d stick in Niskanen ahead of Appere. I think it would give him a bit of encouragement after a poor derby. Most wingers are hot and cold and a run of games might be the thing to get the confidence up.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

I kind of think the opposite JA.

Let him run at tired legs and the boost a (hopefully) good cameo would garner would, fingers crossed let him kick on and gain a foothold in the team.

Levitt in the team for me. By far the best passer in the team.

Not against Carson playing but never feel entirely comfortable when the GK is chopped and changed regularly. If Siegrist is the No.1 and straight back in when fit, then play him in the QF of a cup too.

May need Butcher here to compete with Gogic and to help nullify their ball midfielders - unsure if it will be Allan, Magennis or Newell in their line-up.

Think they'll fear McNulty popping up against them so he plays again for me.

I’ve not been that angry leaving a game in a long long time, officials should be embarrassed by that tonight

United were decent imo, levitt pick of the bunch

Said at end of transfer window, United never replaced shankland, we are now fucked- shambles fully expect united to now try find a striker that no one else wants

Mulgrew injury, sums up whole night

Despite our complete lack of Strikers we have been totally fucked over tonight. Disgraceful decisions.

Scott Allan also very lucky to be on the park to score his goal.

Our bad luck totally compounded by injuries to Mulgrew, McNulty and (what looked like) Fuchs (signalled to come off?).

Allan dived right in front of where i was sitting , very obvious. Collum agreed by making the recognised hand signal for a dive but chose to take no action. Collum showed classsic shitebaggery in avoiding a 2nd yellow.

Re: Utd v Hibs - League Cup Quarter Final - Thursday 7.45pm

Ultimately its only the result that matters but there were a lot of positive signs to tonight.
The team showed a lot of spirit despite being 0-3 down
Levitt was our MOM, its great to see a midfielder who actively wants the ball.
Apart from the first 10m it was a game of small margins making the difference.
Could Carson have saved the 1st?
Should Allan have been sent off?
Was that a penalty?
was Pawletts '2nd' offside?

Onwards and upwards

Re: Utd v Hibs - League Cup Quarter Final - Thursday 7.45pm

Shoulda been 2-2 at 90 mins if hadna been for incompetence.

Reynolds gets fouled, but the offender get a Penalty.

Pawlett scores a great goal, and its disallowed for offside.

We fought hard and well in that match. After 10 mins we were on top until the kiddy-on Penalty.

2nd half, again I thought we were on top.

Our quality in the box, and finishing contributed to the result.

What aboot the Heebees. Well good side. Organised. Good passing side.

MOTM for me McMann.

Hope Collum gets the Covid.

Thought Carson could have done better at 1st and 2nd.

Poor decision by TC to bench our best Goalie.

If Collum got Covid he’d give it to Hibs. He gave them everything else.

Watch the goals again, and watch Levitt, he's only a young guy but he lost his man every time.
