Transfer Deadline Day Thread

19 hours left until the window closes.

Do you think we will see any movement IN or OUT today?

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Robson and Kerr Smith out.

Scott McMann from Hamilton in.

Would’ve liked to see us go for the Swedish boy Irandust but it looks like he joining Groningen.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

I was told we had a recently released Man Utd young lad in on trial, same day we signed Levitt. Good source, so I assume the trial didn’t work out. Name & position unknown.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Does anyone know if Niskanen's work permit needs to be granted before the deadline in order for us to register him?

I'm not sure myself, but I'd imagine it might.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Robson gone. Venom sales in Tayside expected to dip.

Question is though - who's coming in... Hamilton boy or Liverpool boy.

Doesn't look like we are getting the battering ram striker we all crave...unless they pull one out the hat 🤔

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

A bit of a damp squib so far this transfer window, neither up nor doon so far.

Stengthed- goalie ( Trev for Deniz) and Mulgrew.

Weaker up top with the loss of Shankland.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Some United fans actually think our signings under TA have been good. We still have an unbalanced squad which lacks width, height and pace

Totally agree, Saturdays bench said it all.

Tam had absolutely nae options to change the game, 2 x CHs,.2 x CM and a couple of young boys.

Sadly, i can. Utterly ludicrous not to have signed one btw. Utterly ludicrous.

We were the lowest scorers in the Premiership last season and our main task this Summer was surely to find a Centre Forward of proven quality. One who was a bit different to what we already had.

As it is we are now even weaker in that department after the departure of Shankland.

We're gonna need to hope and pray that Ilmari Niskanen resembles an early 80s version of Eamonn Bannon because i just don't see where the goals are coming from in this team.

Disappointing.  Four league games and we’ve scored two goals - second lowest scorers in the league.  No striker has scored in the league for us yet.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

There's an obsession with big strikers or 'big target men'.
Does it not occur to you that most of them are mince & won't score 6 goals in a season?
Let's have some names then please, big target men....

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

They create options though. Ping a ball up to mcnulty and he will struggle to hold on to it equally so will any of our other strikers. A big lad will at least challenge a centre half.

Being a striker isn't all about goals - its also about pulling defenders around and making spaces for others.

Equally, if niskanen skips past a player puts a sumptuous cross in...id rather Jon day was on the end of it than nick Clark.

Is mark durnan free? He played up top for us, for a bit...

A target man isn’t always about scoring goals, look at doige at hibs with nisbet, Jon Daly with goodwillie and Russell

Saturday perfect example, ball went forward for us and 9 times out of 10 came back, we had absolutely no one up front to bring others in to play, Clark is basically a number 10 these days - Appere is injured and scored 1 goal in the prem last season and is incredibly untested at this level - and mcnulty I thought was meh last season but he’s actually replaced himself in the squad from last season but I’m willing to give him benefit of the doubt as was mostly played out of position however I still worry cause for the life of me I can’t see him being a loan striker

Time will tell I guess

I'm kind of agreeing with you here. It would be good to get a striker in who can score goals but whether he is tall is not really important.
I think back to recent headline CF signings
Mikkelson, N'koy, Lyng al absolute dogshite.
A good CF is the hardest position to fill.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

I think McNulty will be ok once he gets going, I've been quite impressed with him this season. Big cheer at McDiarmid when he chased down a backpass to beardy who rolled out to CH and McNulty got him & earned a booking. I see him giving CH's a hard time this season & I'd love to see Louie and him striking up a partnership. Clark and McNulty less likely cos Clark is a frustrted No 10 who isn't quite up for it.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Beware of the Ikpeazu type.
50 goals in 250 senior games.
10 for Hearts in 55 games.
Most in a season 14 for Cambridge in 4th tier 3 years ago.
Maybe has 200 assists tho.
