Praying Utd still sign at least one attacking player before Monday night.
We have literally nothing from the bench.

Brutal stuff. Zero creativity or link-up between Clark and McNulty. Sporle needs to offer a lot more too

Very poor first half, improved in the 2nd.
We were too passive in the 1st half however Hearts playing 3-5-2 meant we struggled badly in the wide areas. and were regularly outnumbered 3 on 2 in CM Neither Sporle nor Mochrie made any impact in defence or attack as our wide midfielders in a 4-4-2.
On another day we might have got a point but we didn't deserve any more than that.
Hearts best players were our two former players Souttar &GMS.
Our MOM Mulgrew.

Couldn't string a single pass together all game and the pressing of Hearts players was non existent. Mochrie first half looked like a lost little boy. Our worst player was Robson by a mile. McNulty and Clark were waste of jerseys. Souttar asbolutely strolled it.

Very poor first half, upped it second half. Fuchs and Mulgrew comfortably our best players - will be that way most weeks this season I think.
Would love to see us sign a big physical striker but doesn’t sound like anything likely going by Courts post match interview on radio

Very hard on McNulty imo mate, like Shankland all last season the service is almost non existent.
Big long balls fired at him and he run himself into the ground.
I suppose everyone sees things differently though, certainly need a different type of Stiker. Big target man is what we need if we are launching 50 yard balls.

The less said about the first half the better but you can't expect anything from a game and particularly at home playing like that.
Second half we were much better once Butcher came on and could have scored an equaliser from a few set pieces but were denied by World class saves.
Mulgrew was excellent today but we too many who never turned up.
Young Mochrie sadly looked miles off it and although I don't think it's his best position missed an opportunity to stake a claim for a starting spot up against a journeyman in Halliday.

From10 mins in, till the end oe the 1st half, we were sitting far too deep, and we hardly had the ba in the Herts half. Ken they had a lot oe possession, but it seemed too deliberate to me that we were sitting aff them, like we were inviting them on.
It would be easy to say a goal was coming, but even tho Herts had so much oe the ba, in oor half tae, they didna dae much we it. In fact neither keeper had a lot to dae in the 1st half.
Halliday had the wing ah to himself.
No sure if it was a Pen or no.
Herts were the better team, and we probably didna deserve to win the gehm, but it was twa individual mistakes that cost us the goals and the gehm.
Thought the midfield was poor the day. There was an improvement when TC made the cheenges.
We musta had twice the shots on target that Herts did. If Herts didna hae Craig Gordon as thir keeper, we woulda scored 4.
Ref had a gammy leg, leaning toward Gorgie.
Meh young lass is stuck at hame in Granton, efter catching the Covid on a bus in Edinburgh. Anither reason to hate these Chucky chunts.

We need a total overhaul of recruitment and the idea of "where we want to be"
Asghar, the owners and the head coach have always said "we are making strides and getting into europe is part of our plan" etc etc etc
Boys like Nicky Clark, McNulty, Butcher, Robson, are not good enough for 'where we want to be'
They boys don't start for Aberdeen, Hibs or Hearts if they were there so they shouldn't be starting for us.
We are about 6 transfer windows and a new manager away from being the best of the rest.

First 70 minutes today was awful. None of our players impressed in anyway.
Last 20 minutes i thought we were very good however.
Was never a penalty for Hearts. Looked like both players just tangled a bit, but GMS made the most of it and hit the deck. We certainly aren't getting any breaks from the refs this season. In fact they've been bloody diabolical and every week we seem to be on the end of some very poor decisions. And big one's too.
Negatives for me today were -
The result (obviously) and Tam's first Tannadice defeat.
The poor perfomances of so many of the starting XI, but particularly Sporle, Robson, Smith and Levitt (he actually looked like the pace and tempo of the game totally passed him by, concerning)
Clark and McNulty's failure to make the ball stick up top, link-up play, win headers or strike any type of a bond up top together.
Our players failure to show anger towards the ref or opposition players. We're far too passive and nice as a team.
Positives -
Great last 20 minute push for an equaliser that showed the players are up for the fight and fighting for the Manager/club.
Chris Mochrie coming more into the game the longer it went on after looking lost in the first 70.
Darren Watson making an energetic and determined cameo
Trevor Carson looking like a very tidy Keeper in the limited things he had to do on the day.
Jeando Fuchs again looking like a leader at DCM
Disappointing result, but pretty much what i expected from today.
The squad is far too light in certain areas, not just in terms of numbers but also height, strength, pace and physicality. And we are overloaded in others.
I pray to God that we sign even one attacking player before Monday at midnight.
And please let it be a Striker (why are we as a club, apparently, so against signing them ?)

We've certainly got more CHs than we need.
It would make sense to move on Connolly or Reynolds but it's unlikely there's anyone out there willing to pay them the wages we are.
As it stands if our aim is to get top six the players capable of this are both GKs. Mulgrew. Edwards Fuchs Butcher & probably Pawlett. We need to keep improving the squad

sporle isn't good enough. do we know his best position? Watson was very good when he came on. Bench is so light. get some of the injured players back for next match
10 random observations from Saturday -
- it was a pen, we'd have been screaming for it, just cos it was on 45 mins doesn't make it soft
- great to see Mochrie starting but with only newbie Levitt by him he struggled but he can be much better
- Craig Gordon's saves would have been comfortably saved by Trevor Carson but Gordon gets a good press so they were 'worldies'
- Greg Aitken made life difficult for himself & didn't endear himself to the home crowd by stopping play when Hearts players did floppys
- we were badly out-supported by Hearts, they had the 12th man
- Mulgrew & Edwards were very competent again but where was the marking when Haring missed a headed goal that was easier to score?
- Ginnelly showed the value of an out-and-out winger when he came on for the last half hour
- Fuchs was our best player
- Carson's penalty save was excellent
- we need to hit the byeline more, it's what wins matches, hoping Niskanen is a flying Fin

Yeah I agree with most of that.
I'm sure it was not Mochries best position but I felt he never did anything going forward or helped Smith out who had GMS or Halliday free on his side for most of the first half and it was just a matter of time before they got something out of that situation.

Mochrie was dead on his feet last twenty. Big jump for him playing against prem teams

Very surprised to see Mochrie finish the game but despite being tired, his last 20 was probably his best. Very quiet for 70 minutes but who wasn’t!? So I wouldn’t put it down to not being ready just quite yet. Although niskanen, chalmers and Pawlett will all be ahead of him now. The wee turn and dribble that he won a FK for that Mulgrew went close with is obviously what he’s all about and that came from picking up a central position and receiving the ball.
Do agree on the point about Gordon. Suits the narrative around him which is basically linked back to poor decision making at Celtic and also suited us. Who were otherwise mostly shite
