Jim McLean Tribute

With the Hearts match on the 28th August being the first time we as club can attend a home match without restrictions, does anyone know if the club intend on a minutes applause?

I know that some fans were lucky enough to gain entry to the league Cup matches and season ticket holders the Rangers match but this is the first game where i think every United fan that wanted to attend could.

I think it would be only right to do this at our first real opportunity to mark our respect to our greatest ever manager.

Thoughts?

Re: Jim McLean Tribute

And surely the perfect day to finally unveil his statue?

Re: Jim McLean Tribute

The statue is being unveiled at the Dundee game. IMHO that is the best time given Jim's history with both clubs.

Too much commotion

Re: Jim McLean Tribute

I don't know how and when the unveiling will happen at the derby but I do think it would be good to have it filmed and broadcast (either live or a video) and shown on the big screen at Tannadice (either before kick off of at half time) so the fans can see it and finally give the great man the rousing reception he deserves. Obviously only a select few guests will be able to watch the unveiling in person given that it a small areas at the back of the ET Stand.

Re: Jim McLean Tribute

Will there be a minutes applause for wee Jim on Sunday?

The fans never got a chance to show our respect to the man in that way (or a minutes silence).

I'm sure Dundee fans would respectfully join in with that as a former player and coach of their's.

There will be a minutes applause on Sunday. And all Jim's Family will be in attendance at not just the statue unveiling but also the Derby.

Well done Utd.

Glad I looked at this and noticed that the game is on Sunday, otherwise I would have been getting out of my bed at stupid o'clock on Saturday morning, and would have been right pissed off after making tea and toast, hooking up the laptop to the telly and wondering why I couldn't get a live feed.

Sympathies CA.  I Missed Huns game. Others cocked up wi daylight saving ... bloody stupid o'clock for sure.

Anyhow on topic, let's hope idiot Dee's don't ruin it.

I think (and hope) the Dundee supporters will observe the minute with respectful applause.

Re: Jim McLean Tribute

What is everyone's thoughts on the statue now we have finally seen it unveiled on the plinth after all this time?

I think it looks absolutely fantastic. Love the wee plaque underneath too. The artwork of the players holding Jim aloft at Dens.
