Sports presenters who give you the boak

I just turned on the BBC Olympic coverage to find Clare Balding and Alex Scott trying to be comedians. It wasn't clever, it wasn't witty, it wasn't even humorous.

What exactly does Clare Balding know about any sport other than horse racing? I understand that much of presenting involves "filling space" but do we really need to pitch it this low? As far as Alex Scott is concerned, I quite liked her, initially, but, now she seems omnipresent.

The last time I recall someone as omnipresent on TV was Kirsty Young. There was a time that STV used her to front everything.

He's a cert to pitch up on GB News when the BBC have had enough of him.

Too much commotion

Agree with you with Alex Scott.. Her attempted banter is abysmal and she can't read an autocue, watch her struggle to put a sentence together
She does though tick all the diversity boxes for the BBC.

Re: Sports presenters who give you the boak

I think you are both right. You get someone who appeals to both sexes, gets ratings and ticks the diversity box and get him (or increasingly her) to front everything. The BBC thought they could do this with Stacey Dooley, because, whilst not being from an ethnic minority she was working class female. I suppose Sky have been doing it for decades, but, with them they didn't use the same presenter to front everything.

For me, when some becomes a "personality" and thinks they are Robin Williams, I get fed up of them.

Don't think you're her type (allegedly).

She might be swinging both ways these days.  Check out her classic innuendo 3rd leg interview on YouTube.👀

Re: Sports presenters who give you the boak

Watching a bit of the Olympics highlights, just there.

The 'banter' between Balding and Scott is absolutely cringey and forced.

Balding i actually think is a fine presenter in her own right, but the 'lads down the pub' chemistry they are going for is hard to watch.

Women aren't funny, let's be totally honest here.👀

Re: Sports presenters who give you the boak

Have been watching a lot of the olympics as you’d expect (finally no time difference) and agree with the sentiments about the bbc. Wtf is all that about? The whole diversity thing seems forced AF. Still better than Japanese coverage mind you.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.
