Would take

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Would be wary of a midfielder who is aging and relied on pace. However, as a left back…..

Re: Summer Transfer Window

He's not away, he's taken an 'end-of-season development pathway'!

It's a nice, if not verbose, way to put it.

He's joining a club that will be in the C'ship in 22/23 & is probably on a good wage.

Good luck Jake, sorry we never saw you starring in Tangerine.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Being reported that Siegrist in 'advanced talks' with Ipswich and the fee is also close to being agreed.

We will need a new Goalkeeper, and sooner rather than later.

If that's true Tek, hope it's big big bucks, and no sweetie money.

Wish it is but he’s only got 1 yr left on his contract so it’ll be the reported £350k ish.

Sadly this is the true value he’ll command in this situation. Nothing the club can do. He’s only a £2m+ player if he’s under contract for 3+ years

Know this point won’t be well received but it’s the reality.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

My opinion on players being sold for sweetie money when they only have 1 year left has always been I'd rather a player like Siegrist stays with us a sees out his contract. My thinking being that obviously they are worth so much to us on the park that something like 350k or whatever is being mentioned just isn't worth it. But the people who run the club know better than me so that 350k could be massively important to us at this stage considering how badly we've been hit by Covid.

Scott Burns has advised that we have rejected a bid, which is good to see and a sign that we won't just take a derisory amount even though his contract is ending soon. If he had an extra year on his contract I'd say anything under £1m should be instantly rejected. With what he has left currently, I wouldn't be shocked to see the club accept something near 500k.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Good points LEK.

But when did you last hear of a selling club NOT rejecting the first bid?
Better obviously if there's more than one buyer interested.
Then it is an auction.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Another Zwick, Szmorcik(sp), Kawashima situation arising? That ended well. Hopefully we can get the guy from QPR in.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

No way we can take that risk. We'll 100% need to replace Benji with someone at a similar level if he goes.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

I do believe the Club are aware we need a goalkeeper & for all we know it might still be Siegrist.
If he leaves then I'm sure the Club are considering many options & we'll be well goalkeepered for the start of the season.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

If seigrist does leave, I think robby mccrorie from rangers could be a shout, good goalkeeper who needs games and he will be third choice ?

Yeah there are lots of good goalies out there looking for game time & it's just a matter of picking the right one. And he can be a loanee, doesn't matter, as long as he's good. The names mentioned, Doohan, Kelly and your McCrorie all sound good enough.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

David Marshall the latest rumour!

Highly doubt it myself but would be a cracking signing

Just turned 36. Maybe has a good year or two left in him. Certainly did well in the Euros apart from that one moment where he decided he would join the attack. As you said, seems unlikely, but maybe we are sniffing around him.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Am u sensing a theme here then... bots in the last few tears of their careers who want to get into coaching.... we will have main coaches than players 🙈 in saying that marshall would be decent

Re: Summer Transfer Window

The theme i'm sensing is loads of rumours and very little transfer activity.

Went very quiet regards.

1)Shankland contract extension (which was leaked off the back of Courts appointment).

2)Jack Doyle Hayes signing (another which was leaked off the back of Courts becoming 'Head Coach'.

We are currently a Goalkeeper and Striker down. That's before we even mention the fact that we still don't have any natural wingers or competion for Robson at LB (we need a No.1 LB imo)

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Still plenty of work to be done I'd say Tek.

In an ideal scenario you'd have two players for every position, for every formation.

2x GK
2x RB
2x LB
6x CB
4x CM
2x RM
2x LM
4x ST

Going by my own calculations (only counting players who have played minutes for our first team or out on loan) we are definitely short a goalkeeper and a striker as you said. Probably 2 wingers and at least one midfielder.

That is 5 signings needed straight away.
1 GK
1 CM
2 Wingers
1 ST

In terms of a left back I think you'd have to see Sporle or Robson leave before the club went looking in that position. Still stunned to hear the rumours that another club wants Robson to be honest but I suppose it is only league 1.

Hopefully we start to see some signings in the door over the next couple of weeks. Doyle-Hayes would certainly be a good addition but apparently has lots of options. No reason to believe he won't pick us though. If we go another summer without signing a proper winger then we as fans must really be missing something.
