Canna believe that laddie has tweet that, all but confirms that courts has the job then??

He should have his P45 today I would think

I dont get the feeling that anything is confirmed as yet.

I read as being a very, very badly put across point that the fans would rather have a safe appointment like a McInnes rather than an untried rookie manager at Premiership level like Courts.

Even if Courts is seen as as having more modern ideas on coaching and managing a team etc.

I've seen that too but all that confirms is that they agree that the club should be looking internally. As a club employee - of course he is going to think that! But it shouldnt have any baring on who gets the job. If it was going to be Courts, it would have happened by now.

Time will tell

Why on earth there getting involved is madness, they should read the room!

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

A lot of folk being rolled out in the press saying what a good guy courts is - almost word for word identical... almost like they've been asked to say certain things...

🤔🤔🤔 could the club have asked courts brother and ex team mate to speak on his behalf and try to get a message across..... surely not.

Ps if they really want to build a case for courts - do it on his record at dundee united. What have they achieved since his arrival?

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

The whole thing has been handled terribly from the start of rumours about Mellon to the present day nonsense in the papers about Courts. The story comparing him to Jim  McLean because he googled flight times when a boy was still on a stag do being the absolute worst.

The boy is on a hiding to nothing either way. He will get no time or grace if he does get it. If it’s not all set up for him then the outside chance that he did have has been completely compromised anyway. He’s an ambitious young guy. It’s not his fault at all.

How hard would it have been to say we’ll take time to consider all options but it’s going to be important to double down on development in future. We’ll cast the net and get the best guy for the job.

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

The rumours about Courts do have an air of the Cathro appointment about them and the club need to realise that given where Hearts ended up after that went wrong is a cause for concern amongst United fans, especially with how long it took us to get out of that league.

Having grand ideas is all well and good but how do you convert all of that into performances on the pitches and results.

If that is how the club wants to progression plan then i would suggest working as the assistance to the next head coach and then being in a position to step up after being closer to the fist team.

Given i didnt see the Mellon appointment coming before it did then i am hopeful there may be someone in the running we are not aware of at the moment!!

Wonder if he thought the fans were clowns when they were handing over 200k to help keep the club going.

Or walking from Tynecastle to Tannadice to help raise legal fee's.

Or buying season tickets for matches people had no chance of getting into.

Or buying merchandise when money is tight for people (losing jobs etc).

Or seeing the team bus off to Hampden despite knowing deep down we'd probably lose.

The boy hasn't even apologised, but has instead just padlocked his account.

Pathetic.

Who even is this guy? Ryan Fraser I assume going by his Twitter handle. Says he is tactical analysis for the academy. Is his name featured in the massive programme list of staff?

That's disappointing by him.

I would have thought if he had any sense if decency that he would have reconsidered what he said in his tweet and realised he got it badly wrong.

Then realise that a genuine apology to the fans is needed to be made.

But no he takes the easier way to say nothing and hide behind a padlocked account a cowardly way out of doing anything.

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

It is very disappointing. The club is becoming like the ANC - promotion comes with allegiance to the cause. Supporters are expected to pay for these guys and accept that they know better. Apart from their arrogance the lack of respect for supporters hurts.

It takes very little to say "sorry"

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

I cant think of another manager managerial appointment which has such a fan backlash than courts... maybe Steve Bruce at Newcastle?

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

The most important job at the club is who ever is in charge of recruitment.
Whoever gets the job will have no chance if his players are shite.

Malky Mackay at Dundee United?

It must be us.

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

Lucky I am not an employee of the club, as I think most of what is said on here is posted by clowns too.

To be fair I am not stupid enough to risk my job over it though...

As far as appointing Courts is concerned, it is a roll of the dice that either works or doesn't same as any other manager. We have had plenty of honkers who looked good on paper over the years.

I'm not old enough to remember Big Jim being appointed, but I bet there were plenty of people who knew better than the club when he was appointed.

I really don't think it is possible the club could get someone I would actually be pleased about, so frankly a complete gamble is better than someone with an established career that is at the level we can afford

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

If it is Courts then there can be no excuses for not advancing from the group stages of the league cup. It actually might be the best thing for him.

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

Interesting they mentioned commercial partners....

Was it simply to make it look like they aren't having a go at the fans or are they getting heat from sponsors/corporate guests 🤔

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

Tranmere re-appoint Mellon.

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

Surprise surprise.

So as I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong), Micky resigns, two or three weeks later re-signs for his old club, - without tapup fee.
Sleekit Bastard.
Mebbe we need to look at some caveat in managerial contracts tae prevent the likes ae this.

Re: New manager (assuming Mickey is away)

I doubt our board care and were  more concerned at ‘changing direction’ than chasing compensation that Tranmere would not have paid in all likelihood.
