Mutually agreed with the club to walk away according to the record.

Another summer of changes. If it was always coming then glad its done now. Get someone in asap.

I was not a fan of Mickey Mellon as our Manager, so i am not unhappy or surprised at this news.
Slightly worried however at the various rumours going about just now about Adam Asghar/Tam Courts possibly getting the gig.
Hopefully, not true.

Not arsed in slightest
To the guys who don't rate Mellon, what were your expectations for the season just finished? Honest question, not looking for an argument.

Not gutted that he’s away, but if we replace him with Hughes or Pressley I’ll be fucking sick

Micky didn't play the best football (putting it lightly), but he did a good job IMO. The problem is who we replace him with? I personally don't see McInnes, reckon he has his sights set a little higher than Utd.
And for anyone else rumoured, I don't see anyone much better than Micky.
At least Utd has most of the transfers and such separate from Micky, so maybe him moving on won't cause such a dilemma for the club.

I definitely would have liked him to stay and built his own team. Not looking forward to hearing all the usual suspects names getting banded about as none of them inspire me. Only bright side is we seem to have a good crop of youngsters coming through.

they have their hands full with the Academy

Not particularly shocked - thought in the last few weeks his interviews seemed pretty downbeat.
I'm dissapointed he didn't get the chance to build HIS team.
New gaffer needs to sort out centre midfield wide players and forwards.

John Hughes looking to explore other football opportunities 🤔

No a shock, but sorry to hear this has happened.
At the start of the Season, I woulda been happy with 10th.
He got us 9th, albeit no in a great fashion.
It's an Arabest fae me.

Also one point from top six, semi final of Scottish Cup and all with 99.9% of last season’s squad. Also only team in division who didn’t strengthen in last window. I honestly don’t know what some people expected.

Out of interest, what about stevie frail?
He out too or is it just mickey?

Timing of it makes it seem like he has been offered a job but has to resign as the club don't want to pay us any compensation.
Disappointed as he seemed to be making all the right noises at the start of the season about the United way etc. but like every manager when you get a better offer your head is turned and you are off

You may be right but my impression is this is more the club than MM. I think both parties have pros and cons of him staying or leaving. I don't think there's been a particularly strong feeling either way.
My own interpretation is that the clubs current strategy and way of thinking towards youth has had to be accelerated because of Covid. Mellon was brought in to build the club AND the youth. Now he's been told to prioritise the youth as well as progress performances and league position. That ties his hands a little bit and wasn't the initial briefing he was sold on.
So we've said ok, you can go if this isn't for you but we're not paying you off. We'll then consider someone who's up to speed on the new briefing and onboard.
MM doesn't want to look like he's causing a fuss so is towing the line of "unless someone tells me otherwise, i'll continue to give my all" and he'll use his decent reputation down south to secure another role.
Just my theory.

This for me in spades.

I don't really get the intense dislike for Asghar, what has he done so appallingly wrong? Some people are pinning rumours and the departure of Mellon on him. Mellon had been homesick for a while now, it's public knowledge.
Maybe Tam Courts applied or showed interest in the vacant manager's job, that's fine, he can. That doesn't mean he's going to get it. Creating Asghar Out twitter pages is just loopy. I honestly think it'll work out fine and we'll get a gaffer who we can get behind and be happy with, plenty out there thankfully.
