For the 2nd season in a row

We will all eat our Turkey on Christmas Day with Dundee Utd sitting proudly in 2nd place in the table.

A note of caution however.

Last season we then went 6 weeks till our next win.We can't afford such complacency again this season.

Now is the time to push on,get a couple of players in to boost the squad in January, get the likes of Bilate back in the squad too and really have a go this season on all fronts.

Last season, we charged up to 2nd spot on the back of some scintillating form. This year we have somehow got ourselves into 2nd place, despite being pretty pish, most of the time.

In otherwords, this team is yet to find it's momentum and if it does, then a title challenge could be a real possibility.

Don't wanna sound like Dr.Doom. Smellyshit will win the SP this Season, but don't think by a huge margin (well hope no). Difficult to say how close anybody can stay to them. Agree with Mat about momentum tho. It's probably between us, the Sheep, and Icy Tea for 2nd.

Re: For the 2nd season in a row

IF anyone is to mount a challenge it needs 2 or 3 teams to do so and all these teams to get wins vs Celtic.

I said in the last title thread, Celtic were the only team that could go on a ten game winning run and that would be the difference, well they've (almost) done that and the gaps only 4 still, so you never know.  More of a dream than any real expectation at the minute, but dreams are good.

What id love Is for the gap of celtics winning margin to be single figures.

2nd in the league, lost once at home, semi of the cup and we've been 'pretty pish'

I am going week in week out, I know what I have seen. Some brutal performances which we just happen to have won, best example of which was indeed against Celtic. But cos we won the game, the self-deluding droves hail it as a great performance from the whole team, but in reality, we were no better than we were against Aberdeen, and infact, even more outclassed on the field against Celtic than against Aberden.

All our experienced flair players are totally of the boil, GMS, Armstrong, Dow, dare I say...Ciftci?

a team with 10 times the resources as we have...what you expecting? Turn up and blitz them?

are you telling me that Celtic shouldn't have put at least 5 past us?

(but granted, defensive performance against Aberdeen was indeed utterly shocking)

Sorry Mat, but if you witnessed v SSB and septic and saw no difference/improvement then you're blind.

Or at it.

They have a squad of players that we could only dream off...they're always gonna create chances...we are punching miles above our weight...all things considered, imo its not pish

On many an occassion, have I seen a Utd team play the old firm and take the game right to them, with them having a squad worth millions more than ours or not. A few weeks ago, I watched Aberdeen take the game right to Celtic and actually give them a pounding all over the park for long periods of the game......the sheep lost to an injury time sucker punch.

Just accept the fact that it was not a great spirited performance that won us the day but abnormal quantities of luck right throughout the game. They even had a perfectly good goal, which was miles onside, chalked off. Whenever does that happen against the OF in the domestic game?

I enjoyed the game, and was delighted with the win, but just don't have the stomach for all the delusion that goes down.

Re: For the 2nd season in a row

Whaurs the delusion ffs! Ive watched utd for 40 years...fantastic? Nae chance...good? Very considering what we can attract as a club
If you think this has been pish pal then you need a cuddle and cheered up a bit

i'd hazard a guess that teams will create 3-4 great chances to every goal scored...you reckon they created about 15-20 clear cut chances going by your reckoning that they should have scored AT LEAST 5?

Re: For the 2nd season in a row

Sakes Mat, Sheep and Celtic game was like night and day.

Granted I watched the second game on the box buy Ffs they were completely different performances.

Morris and maybe Pates got 7/10 v the SSB, I would say every player got 7/10 v Celtic.

I think the sheep performance was as bad as I've seen I years.
