Makes you wonder, are there going to be places for some of these young starlets in our team next season? Fans will be screaming for new signings but wouldn't it be great if we were able to integrate three or four of them into our starting XI?
As far as I can make out (cos we've never got to see them playing for our U/20s or whatever the tarnished youth league programme is called just now) the crop of youngsters we have just now has never been so talented & full of potential.
It would be sheer Utopia, us winning with kids.

The three 17 year olds that are out are definitely the highest rated of the really young ones. You've then got Chalmers, Glass, Freeman, Graham who are young but need to play every week. Can only see one or two of them having any chance of that.
We should be looking to extend Mochrie and Neilson's contracts to maybe 2024 and putting them on loan to the Championship next season. Get them 30ish games under their belt, then we have a couple of 19 year olds coming into the club next summer with some serious experience under their belts.
Most would like to see them in the first team but at such a young age, unless they get some form of game time every week (even off the bench) then they are better out on loan.
Ideal scenario though - Mochrie/Neilson/Kai all get 20+ apps for us next season. I would love to see it.

I agree mate but you could say double standards, we have several clubs currently developing our young players.
This leads to another discussion though, the games our young lads are playing. Or not playing....
The current set-up is sh!t. These boys are bursting a gut to be playing hard, meaningful, competitive fixtures.
All they have at the moment (not covid-caused, it's been sh!t for years) to look forward to is a kickabout against Hamilton's or the like's reserve team every 3rd Tuesday at a sports centre in East Kilbride.
That's not developing players, that would make you give up.
SPFL, can you please introduce a strong, competitive, regular league fixture schedule at Home grounds, not out-grounds, at a time when fans can watch, e.g. Wednesday or Friday evenings. It was like this at one time & there would be 1,500 fans at Tannadice on a Friday night watching the reseves playing Hibs or suchlike in what I recall were often very entertaining & meaty encounters.
There's talk of colts teams from them getting into 4th tier. F*** that. Create a new league, a 5th tier, regular games, pride in your league standing, what kids want.
Where have our reserves/colts/U21s/U20s whatever they call them from season to season finished in the league in recent years? Is there a league? If there is nobody gives a ****.
BRING BACK RESERVE LEAGUE FOOTBALL. LET THE KIDS PLAY.

On Saturday past (3/4), Paul McMullan played the full 90 minutes for Dundee in their 0-1 home loss to St.Johnstone in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. This defeat means it is now ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN YEARS since the Dens Park men last lifted the Scottish Cup
Also in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, Chris Mochrie scored Montrose F.C.'s first goal of the afternoon in a fine 2-4 away win to Highland league side Fraserburgh F.C. The young midfielder completed 79 minutes for the Angus side and will now look forward to a trip to Premiership side Kilmarnock in a fortnight.
Adam King was a 112th minute substitute for Raith Rovers as they unfortunately crashed out of the Cup, losing away to Livingston 2-1 after 120 minutes of action at the Tony Macaroni. Nathan Cooney was an unused sub for the Fifers.
Kai Fotheringham and Lewis Neilson both started for Falkirk in their 3-0 away defeat to Celtic at Parkhead. Neilson played the full 90 and Fotheringham subbed off after an hour in a tough afternoon for the Bairns who had 42 shots at their goal on the day and none in return.
And lastly for this Scottish Cup 3rd Round weekend. Ross Graham played the entire 90 minutes for Cove Rangers in their Sunday evening tie away at to Rangers at Ibrox. But it was another tough day of learning for one of Utd's academy loanees as the Aberdeen side faced a 4-0 thumping and faced 27 attempts on their goal on the night.

On Tuesday night (6/4) Lewis Neilson and Kai Fotheringham both started for Falkirk in their 2-1 away loss in Lanarkshire to Airdrie. Neilson played the entire 90 minutes at Centre Half, whilst Fotheringham started on the attacking right hand side of a 433, lasting 76 minutes. Falkirk remain top of Scottish League One despite the defeat.
Also on (4/6) in League One, Ross Graham once again played the entire match for Cove Rangers who drew 1-1 away to Clyde in Cumbernauld. The Aberdeen side remain in 2nd place in League One but will perhaps be disappointed that they only gained one point on Falkirk, rather than three. But their efforts at Ibrox just 2 days previous perhaps made for tired legs on the night, given it was a late equaliser from former Utd Striker David Goodwillie who rescued the point for the 'Bully Wee'.
Chris Mochrie was a 66th minute substitute for Montrose FC in their 0-0 away draw at Dumbarton. The young attacker was unable to grab the winner on the penultimate day of his 17th year on this planet. The point did however help gain a point on Falkirk in their slim pursuit of the League One title.
Finally for this midweek, Kieran Freeman once again played the entire 90 minutes for Peterhead, this time in their 1-1 away draw to Forfar. A disappointing result for Jim McInally's men, as a win would have seen them on the same points as 4th place, but they now sit two points off of the final Play-Off place. Forfar remain rooted to the bottom of League One, as they have done all season. With just 11 points out of a possible 42 garnered.

In League One on the same evening -
Kai Fotheringham started for Falkirk but was substituted in 'The Bairns' catastrophic 1-0 away defeat to lowly Peterhead. This result was the end for former Utd players David McCracken and Lee Miller as they were relieved of their duties as Co-Managers the following day, after a horrific slump from Falkirk which has seen them relinquish control at the top of a division they seemingly had in the bag weeks ago. Lewis Neilson did not feature from the bench for Falkirk.
Kieran Freeman as always played the full 90 minutes for Jim McInally's, Peterhead at full back. The win has surely now gotten the North Eastern side out of any relegation danger they were in.
In an exciting night in the League One title race Ross Graham played the entire 90 minutes for Cove Rangers away to Montrose. But it proved to be a bitterly disappointing night for Cove as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat. A win would have put them top of League One ahead of Falkirk and Partick at this late stage of the season. Chris Mochrie played the first 46 minutes for Montrose, who are now just 2 points off of the play-off spots after their fine home win.
