Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Away to Killie Saturday who have not won a game in their last 8 and only scoring 2 during that run. Why is it we always seem to come up against teams when they are on these sort of runs?

Anyway 3 points Saturday and i think we would be safe from 11th & 12th come the seasons end.

Would bring  Sporle back in and McNulty. Harkes and Clark out.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Despite the scoreline on Sunday i thought we played some really nice attacking football at times and playing the diamond actually worked and helped us create chances against the best team in the country.

Tough one on Saturday. Do we stick with it or tweak things a bit because of their pitch?

When we played them on December 23rd and won 2-0 we played 442 and the line-up was.

Siegrest

Smith
Connolly
Reynolds
Robson

Bolton
Butcher
Fuchs
McMullan

McNulty
Shankland

Subs - Mehmet, Edwards, Neilson
Clark, Sporle, Pawlett, Powers, Harkes

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Excluding changes necesitated by injury I don't think Micky's ever played the same starting eleven twice.
Same as Livi, Chalmers to get a run at some stage.

Has there been any more word on Logan Chalmers? Didn't realise his injury was so serious.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Chalmers on the bench on Sunday so would expect him to maybe start on the bench again.

I wouldn't be fucking about in this match, we need to go for their throats from the first whistle:

Benji
Smith
Edwards
Reynolds
Robson

Appere
Fuchs
Butcher
Sporle

McNulty
Shankland

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

2 games left till the split then and we are 4 points behind St.Mirren (and 10 goals worse off).

So, we'd need them to lose at home to Rangers and away to Accies (quite possible) and ourselves defeat Celtic and Aberdeen at home (less possible).

Looking very much like Bottom 6 then.

On the plus side we're now 10 points ahead of Killie in the Play-Off place (and with a better goal difference of one).

So looking very much like we are all but safe. One more win should do it.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Don't think we played great, very fortunate to get away with a point there. Anything good we did do involved Sporle and felt we should've brought on Bolton as a more natural wideman to replace him instead of Appere. Connolly also looked very shaky when he came on and lucky not to get sent off considering the similar decision that went our way against Livi.

A point closer to safety though, and keeps our distance from RC, Hamilton and Killie.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Extremely hard watch today, we couldn’t get our foot on the ball and it’s seemed like we were defending a ball l into our box every two minutes.

Two great opportunity’s at the end for us to steal what would have been an undeserved 3 points.

Positives for me were Benji and Edwards who both earned their wages this week, just hope big Edwards isn’t getting paid per header.

negatives Mark Connolly (bombscare) and I thought Fuchs never had a great game also.

All in all its a very good point on the road and keeps Killie and County at distance.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

Pretty disappointed in that.

TBH I thought Killie were the better team for 2 thirds of the game. We were too late in pushing for that 2nd goal, then we started to get hold of things, resulting in about 5 or 6 attempts on goal in the latter part oe the 2nd half. In the end, it was probly just aboot even stevens. Just too bad they got an equalizer.

Think we only had 1 shot on target in the 1st half, which gave us the our goal. Think we only got 2 coarners compared to their doen or so..

Typical for us that Chunty couldna get eff-all from the Midden. Our result the day, plus that one to me means that top 6 is probly gone, and I'm resigned to 7th at best.

We are still giving the ball away to cheaply and then putting ourselves under pressure. Positives are we came away with a draw where earlier this season we would have been beaten and we are creating chances.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

played them off the park and lost 4-0 last time we were there,

as Jimmy Greaves used to say " make mine a double"

Fuchs been pretty poor the past 3 games tbh.

Hope we all haven't built the wee man up too much.

I hope after this season finishes i never have to see Reynolds, Connolly and Ian Harkes wear a united shirt ever again.

Never understand the 'Championship player' arguement tbh mate. I don't think he has been brilliant but he's played 20+ games for us in this league and we're sitting 7th in the league. He has contributed the last few games with a couple of assists and a goal, noticeably in games where he isn't playing as a sitting midfielder.

He's not a world beater by any stretch, and there have been games where he has looked poor, but he does offer something to the team I feel. He maybe wouldn't be in my 11 every week, but no problem with him being a squad player. Similar to a Clark/Sporle/Powers. They might not play every game but they have the ability to make a decent impact on the team.

Re: Killie v Dundee Utd 27/02/21

If we want to use the phrase Championship player, step forward Jamie Robson.
He as targeted as a weak link by opposition last season.   Nothing personal  but if we want to improve he needs replaced.

Can't disagree.
Game in game out we see Reynolds/Robson down the left as weak link. No just that but Robson continually frustrates linking & attacking.
Contrast that with the steadiness of Liam and consistent attacking threat down the right.

I would say Harkes has stepped up more than Robson this season, especially last few games.....
