Most unique performance for United?

I've been thinking a lot about matches where a player has just taken the game and won it or got a result for United by doing something truly unique. The best one I can think of is Ray McKinnon's hat-trick of free-kicks at Killie back in 97. I just watched it back on YouTube and it's absolutely unbelievable. I was about 8 years old at the time and was at the game with my Dad, thinking this must just happens all the time. But when you look back on it, I can't think of anyone ever scoring a hat-trick of free-kicks anywhere else in football?

What are some of your most unique memories of an individual performance at United?

As a side-note. Ray McKinnon, his last 6 goals for United were:

Motherwell away - where he tackles the boy out wide, plays a 1-2 with Kjell and smashes it Top-C with the outside of his left (weaker) foot.
Kille home - half-volley from the edge of the box after Malpas had put us ahead
Hearts away - the late winner to make it 2-1 - absolutely smashed it past the keeper

Then the Killie hat-trick - surely no one has had a better run of top quality goals as a United player? Some absolutely amazing finishes.

Paul Walker v Rangers in a pre season friendly at the start of the 95/96 season. The Oh Wee Man game as he turned in a Giggs-esque performance to rip Alex Cleland to shreds for the entire match.

3 penalty saves in one half by Cammy Bell at Dunfermline in 2016.

That's an excellent one. It was at our end too.
Just looked it up'
8 mins, 24 mins, 35 mins.
Gavin Reilly, Nicky Clark, Paul McMullan.
All 3 were saved, not missed.
Straight down the middle (Bell stood his ground), brilliant save to his right, threw himself to his right to save.
Not bad, eh!!

Was at Ray's hat-trick game in Kilmarnock too.

Incidentally, it was 24 years ago today.😮

Willie Pettigrew's 4 goals against the wee team, he ripped them to bits that day and it's a great pity there is no footage of it.

Honestly didn't even realise! That is mental. What a player he was. Unfortunately shite manager though.

Ralphie vs Standard Liege. Masterclass.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Played against Ray when a kid (same age).  I played right wing/subbie (i.e. not that good) so I should have twigged when it turned out that the left black had called off sick and I got asked to play there.  Don't think I even got close to him, literally.  The score ended up well into double figures and I wouldn't be surprised if he scored double figures that day too.  Of course, as is still the issue with kids football, all the best players played for Dundee United Social (or whatever they were called), and they were comfortably better than us in every position.  That is of course driven by scouting and totally undermines development too.  What challenge was it for them to thump us - what did it achieve?
