Big injury blow :(

Aidan Connolly took a bad one for the U20's yesterday afternoon.

WTF is Jackie sending one of our best players away to Airdrie to play a Development game on a plastic pitch anyway FFS?Fucking stupidity if you ask me and flirting with trouble.

Re: Big injury blow :(

I just don't get it Bill.

We have 1 fit forward and have Celtic,St.Johnstone and Dundee to play in the space of 10 days and were sending one of our best talents away to play a development game on a artificial pitch.

Our first team players should be getting wrapped in cotton wool just now.

Training should be keeping them fit enough alone.

Re: Big injury blow :(

Hearing Aidan is getting asessed today but the ankle isn't broken just badly sprained. He went right over it.Ouch.

He'll be out for a month probably.

Very dissapointing timing as he's a starter for me and i was looking forward to him playing in the two upcoming Derbies.

Time for GMS to take a game and soften the blow.

Re: Big injury blow :(

Best impact player we have imo, bit of a blow, seems we don't get much cheer at this time of year nowadays eh? Oh well put your foot up and enjoy your Xmas dinner now Aiden

Hear their shout, hear their roar
They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more
Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah
Over the hill went the swords of a thousand men

Anyone else getting somewhat pissed off with Macnamara?

Re: Big injury blow :(

Got to ask questions, but I just never see MacNamara being that daft. Really strange one.

Re: Big injury blow :(

not ideal but these things happen and 3g ro 4G pitches are what most of the u20's are playing on nowadays as we have done by playing games at Station Park etc.

You'd expect the boys who are pushing for first team involvement to be playing these games as this is the only competivie football they get outside the first team so they can't expect to keep match sharp if they don't play matches.

Not getting pissed off with JM in the slightest, we've had a couple of poor results in November and December but these things happen here, we're not Celtic and cannot expect to win every week with the money we have to pay players.

I'm glad you're happy with his team selections, his choice of subs, his tactical awareness, etc. I'm not.

Re: Big injury blow :(

What pisses me off Is the lack of change he has. No plan B or phuck all.

Yeah.....if we lose a goal first, we normally go on to lose the game. Jackie always likes to state how all important that first goal is but I am pretty sure that it wasn't always this way.

As for Aiden Connolly....baffling decision to me at the time that he never started against Aberdeen considering the dud performances from this seasons consistent underperformers......but that will be it now for months. Ankle injuries are a bastard.

Re: Big injury blow :(

I'm not saying some things aren't head scratching from time to time but if u think back to McCall, Brewster era then I'll take Jackie every day of the week, at times the past 12 months have given some of the best fitba I've seen since McLean era.

Re: Big injury blow :(

Would you prefer a player match sharp or getting 20mins here and there coming off hte bench?

He needs games to keep him going. If he can take part in a U20s game to keep his match sharpness up then fair enough.

Honest to phuckin christ, people just like to moan sometime,

Re: Big injury blow :(

Nah you're out of line there a bit Ardler.

I'm no one to moan for no reason.I stated why imo it was daft to play him in a development game.

If you disagree that's fair enough but why the need tae be nippy?

Re: Big injury blow :(

Sort of agree with ardler tbh...laddie is a great prospect but he's no way near 90 mins first team material every week..no close...

good idea to keep him match sharp Imo...if he broke his ankle in training you canna blame training...its futba...these things happen

Re: Big injury blow :(

I'm no saying he's the finished article, far from it.

But he's shown this season that he is,infact, one of our best attacking options at first team level.

With the run of games we have coming up and the fact we still only have 1 fit forward and guys like GMS,Dow and Armstrong in indifferent form i just don't see the sense in risking him in development games at the moment.

Think i'll leave this one at that,Gents.

I replied why I thought it wasnt daft.

The nippyness wasnt directed at you TEK. Was directed at people posting comments like this:

Re: Big injury blow :(

Problem with this whole thread is the use of the retrospectoscope that provides 20/20 hindsight vision. If Aidan had survived the game, and been closer to 1st team match fitness, it wouldn't exist.

Re your bottom quote.

We were discussing Jackie, I believe I posted a fair comment.

You can apply that to about anything though.

We could play Keith Watson upfront and he might end up scoring the winner.

Wouldn't recommend it though.

Tek, doesn't matter where Keith plays, he'll always score the winner

not sure how hindsight could be applied for Keef the striker?

Pretty much as i explained it.

Any decision you make either works ...or doesn't.

Some are bigger risks than others and some are just not worth taking at certain times.

Not really hard to work out Bugs tbh.

Silly me, I thought you were using hindsight for Aidan and fantasy for Keef.

Sorry.
