In days gone by swap deals were very popular, when players wanted to play and not just sit in the stand and pick up a wage. Before agents took over the game and started demanding all sorts of extras that put paid to most 50/50 swap deals.

Thomas Robert was a pre-contract. Bit different.
Not according to the link shared on the January window thread on here.

He only signed a 1 year deal with Airdrie last July.
He is now free to sign for other clubs on pre-contract.

Yeh iam aware of that. And if you read the link on the other thread it says we had put a bid in to get him now for second part of season or something along those lines.

The Airdrie manager said he was on a long term deal?

Sorry it was Airdrie director Stuart Miller in the Daily Record article that said....Millar said: "I know there is interest from Dundee United, but there is interest from a number of clubs regarding Thomas. "Thomas is on a long-term contract. If a club is prepared to sign Thomas they've got to bear in mind that his contract is not up at the end of this season, the contract is much longer than that".

Really surprised to read that tbh.
Every article i have read about the lad said he turned down 'big clubs' to sign a 1 year deal with Airdrie to put himself in 'the shop window'.
But, if the Airdrie guy is quoted then that must be the case, right enough.
Would seem he is certainly not Tannadice bound, afterall.
