In the current climate and financial position club are in we would be mental NOT to sell in January....
And as much as we would like a big number, any clubs in a position to buy right now hold all the cards.

If the big fella moves then I agree with most of the views on here that the club should take cash but ideally we should wait until the summer. Ideally sign him in January and loan back for the rest of the season is the deal the club should be looking to do if of course there is any interest.
The January transfer window, has it ever served us well? Too many heart breakers for me apart from the obvious the Barry Robson one was costly and going further back Billy Dodds to Rangers😩

Two massive clubs. Hopefully scout him until the summer. We need to do our best to keep him here this season.

Tell them we’re willing to do business at the end of the season.

Around a month ago, word was that ‘everyone is available’
Things may have changed, who knows. A few out on loan with one in on loan might be the best we could hope for.

I'd like to see us give Jake Davidson a chance to be in the 1st team squad from January onwards. He has done very well in both loan spells elsewhere (QP and Waterford).
I think we should recall Chris Mochrie too tbh. I know he could probably do with much more development time, elsewhere. But if we are in the position to sign no-one in January then surely he is a handy boy to have on or bench? As we literally have zero creativity from a No.10 position.

Bid made for Robert according to this

Now thatwould be a coup.
If nothing else a statement of intent and good to see us moving at the start of the month.

9 goals in 11 games for Raith. Massive laddie too. Got a Raith Rovers supporting pal that speaks about him constantly. Loves him.

Mellon never heard of Thomas Robert 🙄

Surely Adam King will be leaving the club this month? Most likely on loan, more hopefully permanently. The fact he has a contract until 2022 is baffling. Jake Davidson was on the bench ahead of him on Saturday and thats with us having centre mid injury issues. Must go down as one of our worst signings in terms of wasting a wage. He has barely even played a game for us so could be a decent player... but evidently not doing enough and currently at best 7th choice central midfielder at the club. For a guy who there were high hopes for when he broke through at Hearts, surely at 25 now he wants to find a club where he plays every week? Needs to drop to a lower championship club and work his way back into football really. Maybe even a move to a Cove, Partick, Falkirk? Either way, get him OOT!!

He dosnt even train with first anymore and they cant get anyone to take him on loan, can see him staying till either the end of his contract or he get paid up

United all to blame on this one, quite right for A,King to sit there and want his contract paid out. Very unlikely to have any other suitable offers assuming he's on a decent enough wedge to convince him to sign for 3 years (unless we put weekly wage down and length up!?).
However, the mechanics behind that signing need scrutinised and improved upon asap. We have no budget or headcount to waste, he doesn't seem to be wanted by either manager and is currently well down our own pecking order (probably deliberately to try and get him to move on).
That can't happen. Who scouted/recommended/ him and who decided if we were signing him and for how long. Some signings don't work out but the length of the contract Vs minutes on pitch probably calls for a review and some questions asked here.
There has to be something amiss here, not the signing of him as by Lilley above but subsequently.
I'd worry about the boy's sanity. Does any poster on here who's in the know have an idea what's gone wrong?

You could see in his 15m debut at Stenhousmuir that he was not a footballer.
21st C Walter Rojas?

McMullan signed a pre contract with Dundee apparently but a deal could be done to move this month

I guess you cant blame him for looking for regular first team football. There is also the chance that they somehow manage to make it into the Premiership next season. I think the consensus on McMullan has always been "he is a Championship player" but some players just take time to adapt. He added another dimension to our game when played from the start in those leagues games so he certainly has something to offer. Could we find a better player though? I think so.

Quite often he wasn't even a Championship player.....

I read he was offered a pre contract by Dundee, haven't seen anything that he'd actually signed it.

Apparently we may be bringing Mochrie back.

Benjamin Siegrist: "It could be an interesting transfer period, I’ll just let it come to me. I’m happy at Dundee United and grateful that they put me in this shop window. My goal is to play at the highest level. I am ready for the next step, my agent does this work for me. But of course, the Bundesliga would be very attractive! As long as my performance is right, I am certainly in a strong position."
He has to stay until end of season or we go down, simple as that
