Watched 'A View From The Terrace' earlier and they were raving about him.

Showed a clip or two of him and his movement looks superb. Twisting and turning and always looking for a decisive pass.

Have you seen the youtube videos ?  Impressive stuff ?

Commented on those videos previously. Like watching a young Stuart Armstrong.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Quick 'Loan Watch' update regards the Utd lads who featured this past weekend.

On Saturday (12/12)

Chris Mochrie started and played the first 74 minutes for Montrose in their fine 0-1 away in Airdrie. The result catapults them into the top 4 of League One.

Ross Graham was an unused sub for Cove Rangers as they lost 1-0 away to Dumbarton. The defeat see's the Aberdeen outfit drop down to 3rd in League One after topping the division for weeks. They are now only ahead of Montrose (in 4th) on goal difference.

Kieran Freeman played the full 90 for Peterhead in their 2-1 home win against East Fife. A huge win that see's Jim McInally's men jump up two places in League One and ahead of the Fife team in the process.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Archie Meekison played the first 78 minutes for Spartans FC on Saturday in their Scottish Cup Qualifying match at home to East Kilbride FC. He failed to score for only the 2nd time in his Spartans career so far (the other match ironically also against EK) but that would have been of little consequence to him or his club on the day as they gained revenge on the Lanarkshire side for their previous loss earlier in the season, defeating them 2-1 on this occasion with an 85th minute winner from the penalty spot against the 10 men. Spartans now face Stranraer on Boxing Day in the next Round of the Cup.

And lastly for this weekend and happily, Nathan Cooney finally got some minutes under his belt for Kelty Hearts as they ran out 7-0 winners against Gretna in the Lowland league. The Fifers took full advantage of the other sides in the division's inactivity at the weekend to extend their lead at the top of the Lowland to 4 points.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

With Jake Davidson's loan spell now over - does anyone know when he can be involved in the first team? Assuming January he'd have to be re-registered? Will need a break and then a bit of a  mini pre-season before he gets going again you'd imagine. He is out of contract in the summer and turned 20 in October so I'd suspect unless he impresses massively in training he'd have to go out on loan again to earn a new contract.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Utd Loan Watch from this past 7 days.
______________________________________________________________________________________

On Tuesday (15/12) Archie Meekison played the first 70 minutes for Spartans FC against Kelty Hearts in the Lowland League. But the Edinburgh men's winning run came to an abrupt halt as they succumbed to a 0-4 reversal against the Fife side who extended their advantage at the top of the division. No info on whether young Nathan Cooney featured for Kelty at all online that i can find, unfortunately.
______________________________________________________________________________________

In The Championship on Sat (19/12) Cammy Smith was a late substitute for Ayr United (74th minute) in their away match at Arbroath. But despite a late rally it was a 2-1 defeat for the 'Honest men' of Ayrshire who now slip down to 5th in the division as a consequence of the 'Smokies' first win of this Championship season.
________________________________________________________________________________________

In League One, also on Sat (19/12) -

Florent Hoti was a 63rd minute sub for Forfar Athletic as they went down to a 2-0 defeat away to East Fife. This result keeps 'The Loons' firmly rooted to the bottom of the division.

Chris Mochrie played the full 90 minutes in Montrose's impressive 4-0 home win against Dumbarton. The result takes the men from Angus up to 2nd place in League One. Jumping above both Cove Rangers and Partick Thistle, in doing so.

Kieran Freeman also played the full 90 minutes for Peterhead in their 0-1 away win at Firhill against Partick Thistle. This huge Peterhead victory moves Jim McInally's men up 3 places in the division from 8th to 5th.

Ross Graham was again an unused sub for Cove Rangers as the Aberdeen's sides fantastic early season continued to disintegrate. This time a 3-2 home defeat to Clyde seen them further down the table to 4th, after leading the division for the first few weeks. Ex-Utd legend David Goodwillie struck twice for 'The Bully Wee'.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Nathan Cooney seen no action for Kelty Hearts as they defeated Stirling University 2-0 at home (19/12) to cement their place as the league leaders.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Lastly for this week -

Last night (Tue 22/12) Kieran Freeman once again played the full 90 minutes for Peterhead in their 1-1 draw at home to Montrose. Chris Mochrie was not in the Montrose squad (injured or getting recalled?).

The point each keeps both in their respective league positions of 2nd (Montrose) and 5th (Peterhead).

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

You get a half-decent look at Flo Hoti and Ross Graham in the two links below from their games at the weekend. Hoti is number 7 for Forfar (also takes all corners and free-kicks) and Graham is 20 for Cove (the big lad):

Where did you hear this, mate?

I brought up on another thread as I noticed Dundee recalled a couple of their league 1 loans. Wondered if we'd do the same.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Some stats on the boys who appear to have returned from loans at league 1 clubs:

Freeman: 14 apps / 1200 mins
Mochrie: 11 apps / 775 mins
Graham: 10 apps / 779 mins
Hoti: 8 apps / 525 mins

Some really valuable minutes in there. Freeman especially got rave reviews throughout his spell there and McInally was very complimentary of his defensive abilities in an article today.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Yesterday (16/1) Jake Davidson played the first 60 minutes for Arbroath in their 2-2 away draw ay Queen of the South.

It was a tactical decision from Dick Campbell to go more attacking as 'The Red Lichties' were 2-0 down at the time of the sub. And it paid off as within 5 minutes they had pulled it back to 2-2.

Arbroath remain bottom of the table but gained a vital point on Alloa in 9th.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Lower leagues now returning to training. Expect the majority of the boys that were out on loan to return to their previous clubs or find another. Probably for the best.

Yeah mate, definitely makes sense for most if not all of them go out. I wonder about Fotheringham too, he's not been in a matchday squad since County away. At 17, I'm sure he would benefit from some decent game time in League 1 or even 2.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Watched the ICT v Raith last night and Adam King had his first start. From what I saw he played OK, much like he did in his appearances at Tannadice but definitely didn't stand out from the rest. A few ex Utd on show last night.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

With all these guys going out on loan to get games does it not make you wonder why we can't be doing it for ourselves? I know when you mention 'colt' teams it's always asoociated with Celtic & Rangers benefiting by playing their youngsters in proper lower league games. But we & other big clubs could do that too & it would be very interesting, competitive & watchable. There's a Sportsound podcast on this topic on the site just now.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Jake Davidson's loan at Arbroath has been terminated early due to him picking up a knee injury that will rule him out for a few weeks.

Disappointing.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

On Saturday, past (26/3) Paul McMullan played the full 90 minutes for Dundee in the Scottish Championship. He helped them come back from 0-2 down to win 3-2. This win takes Dundee to 3rd in the division.

Also on Saturday in the Scottish Championship, Adam King played the first 70 minutes for Raith Rovers as they ran out narrow 1-0 winners at home to Morton. The win keeps the men from Kirkcaldy 2nd in the league.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Also on Saturday (26/3) Kai Fotheringham played the first 66 minutes for Falkirk as they ran out 0-2 winners away to Forfar Athletic in Scottish League One. It was a Falkirk side heavy on ex-Utd players as no fewer than 4 former United players started alongside the young loanee (Mark Durnan, Paul Dixon, Morgaro Gomis and Charlie Telfer). Lewis Neilson didn't feature from the Falkirk bench, however. The win keeps 'The Bairns' top of the divison.

Second in League One are Cove Rangers who were held to a 0-0 draw away to East Fife, also on Saturday. Ross Graham helped the Aberdeen men keep their clean sheet on the day, playing the full 90 minutes for Cove.

5th in League One are Peterhead who registered a 0-1 away win at Dumbarton on Saturday. Kieran Freeman helped the 'Blue Toon' claim their clean sheet and win, playing the full 90 minutes for Jim McInally's charges.

Just ahead of them in League One (in 4th) is Montrose. They were held to a 2-2 home draw on Saturday by Clyde. Chris Mochrie started on the bench but was a half time substitute as the men from Angus sought out the 3 points, but to no avail.

Re: Utd Loan Watch - 20/21

Great review Tek. Saturday was interesting as no Utd but there were 4 games in league 1 that featured our loanees to keep an eye on. Good to see Kai getting game time. They are playing him wide left in what looks like a 433 so it will be good to see what kind of player comes back in the summer. The club deserves credit for having 3 17 year olds out on loan. And fair play to the clubs for being willing to give them the game time.

Hopefully Neilson can start a league game for Falkirk. He played the SC game v Arbroath and appeared to be solid at right back.

As for Freeman and Graham, two guys turning 21 this year and appear to be first choice at their loan clubs. Can only be good for the club to be able to have a look at what these guys can do at first team level, albeit in league 1.
