Will become United's youngest every player when he comes on on Sunday

That’s a bit of positive news at last
Online!
Best bit of news we've had all season.
Now time to get Chris Mochrie tied down. He can sign a pre-contract next month. Is that correct?

Magic. Love this.
Hopefully the next rising star realises it's not all about sitting on a bench somewhere else on mair money that lasts a short time and kills their career.

I think Mochrie has another year after this one

Only thing i can see online is the site transfermarkt saying his contract runs out on 31st May 2021.
I don't recall the club actually ever announcing him signing a new deal.

Think a bit of credit goes to the club on this one. Undoubtedly masses of work in the background in our youth programme. Having all that interest because we’re developing them properly and then managing to retain players amid that interest seems a very positive thing.

I thought it was said on the dode fox podcast that he signed a 3 year deal last season, but can’t see anything official on it

Great that we are developing these kinds of players and also that they can see their future with us for a few years.
I guess if you look at the recent young players who left united to go down south....you've got armstrong and robertson, whereas the likes of scott allan, scott banks & Ali Coote who have not done much in the way of first team football (and possibly even kieran freeman).
Good for him and good for us. CB is a difficult position for a youngster to get game time, but fingers crossed he gets the time

Agree mate. Really good news.
On Banks though, by all accounts he is progressing very well and is starring for their U23's.

I may be wrong, but is the May 2021 not his loan contract to Montrose?
Underneath it says May 31 2022
Current club: Montrose FC Joined:Oct 16, 2020
Contract expires:May 31, 2021
On loan from:Dundee United FC
Contract there expires:May 31, 2022

Ahh right. That'll be it then.
Would still like to see him offered an extension before this season is out, right enough.

Great news. Well done Kerr, you sensible laddie
A back 3 of Neilson, Smith, Graham.
Freeman and Robson as wing backs.
Mochrie and Glass in midfield.
Chalmers and Fotheringham on the wings.
Our academy is certainly looking like a place where we might start producing again.

If united is savvy they wont let him go into the last year of his contract then you could have a Scott Banks Situation where the club only faces a development fee for him if he goes.
Would you bring Mochrie back in January or leave him at Montrose? Would Mellon even play him if he came back, dosnt really fit with the defence football we have been playing ?

Mochrie seems like a sensible kid. I think him having his mates he went to school with around him at the club will help in the case for him to stay here. I'll never understand why a young player doesnt see 100+ games in Scotland before the age of 21 as the best possible progression as opposed to going down south to a youth setup where you are nowhere near the first team until you are 21/22 at the earliest.
Cant see him coming back in January, and as much as I'd love to see him in the first team, he wont get anywhere near the game time he needs to progress. Playing every week in league 1 for the rest of the season is best for his development. Similarly with boys like Ross Graham, Freeman etc - they need to spend a season playing week-in-week-out. Graham seems to be in and out of the Cove team a little bit but I don't think he would have played 1 minute of football for us this season so its still 100% the right decision for him to be out on loan. Also, will he ever stop growing? I saw a picture of him this week and the laddie must surely be 6ft 4 at least?

Leicester City reported to be about to test Utd's resolve with a 500k bid for young Smith (which is allegedly the amount written into his contract that Utd must allow him to talk to other clubs).
If all true, question is, how do Leicester somehow know that magic figure? Hmmm

I think its a fairly common thing that clubs can find out release clauses mate. Also two factors in play here.
1) it is the S*n reporting it
2) he could have went anywhere he wanted last Nov but chose to stay here
Hopefully the kid wants some first team football. He said himself his goal was 15-20 first team games this season. He winna get that down there.

I'm guessing if you know the amount on his contract then not to difficult for a professional football club to to find out......
