442 with Pawlett left midfield. Even though we have McMullan, Sporle and Appere on the bench who have all played that position before. If anyone can explain wtf Pawlett has done to justify his inclusion in this team, I'd love to hear it. Fucking baffling team selection in that sense.

Having said that, fuck it, Mon Utd.

Yeah I’d much rather have Sporle there.

WTF. Strange penalty that one.

Great take by Clark.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

The guys worked the arses off to get them three points especially in the second half into a strong wind.

Lots of stand out performers but I thought that Jamie Robson put in a particularly good game, couple of great headers at the back post.

big Benji did very well at cross balls also in the second half.

3 points at home against one of the teams at our level in this division and now 10 clear of cavies and St Mirren.

Delighted to get win today. Good to see Smith back.
Thought Pawlett done well today however should have scored after what was our best move of the season!  Fuchs didnt do anything of note when came on.
Edwards at their goal wtf?
Disappointing not to keep a clean sheet.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

Happy with the win, Pawlett and Robson did well, Benji and Reynolds too.

Thought Jeando looked a bit off the pace, but he did get in two very good challenges which had to be right, one in the penalty box.

The weather was a problem for both sides.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

Despite County's strong finish I thought we were worth the 3 points today. Thought Pawlett was excellent and it would've topped off the afternoon if he finished off that move.

Great result, and all in all a very decent performance I thought. Well done to the boys for bouncing back in what has been a rough week.

It was, and I'm happy for him to be awarded the second as he's in my FFS team

Never mentioned Shankland above, but he seems to be deeper too often for my liking, while Clark looked the main striker. I thought Clark should have been off sooner though, as although he will get the credit for the goals, nothing else seemed to come off for him.

Shankland is more valuable in the long term, and it's my feeling we should be trying to showcase him, while of course ensuring our league position.

Really happy with that win.

If we can win in Paisley next week we can put real daylight between us and the bottom end.

Edwards is slower than a week in jail.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

Lots of positives.  We've gone from being jittery to being soundly mid table.
Great workrate allround in horrible conditions.
Pleased to see the much maligned (inc by me) Pawlett do well - he'd be an annoying niggly wee bastard to play against - knows how to niggle without drawing fouls and how to milk the free kicks.
Pity he didnae get that goal - wouldae been a great team goal.
Clark's proving invaluable, christ can he take a penalty.
Liam Smith's been very steady since he came back.
Edwards - flat footed for their goal.
Reassuring to see Vigurs make a tit of it, nice to see other teams take fresh air swipes (no tae mention Eeor.)
Once again Micky saying all the right things.
Roll on Paisley.

If he got the goal it would have been one of the best worked goals for us in a while!!

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

Clarky. 7 goals this season from 14 appearances. Many said he wasnt good enough at this level. His goals have given us 6 points so far this season. I suspect it will take a lot for his name to not be one of the first on the team sheet for the foreseeable.

I said before when a poster of this Forum asked 'what does Nicky Clark bring us?'

Goals.

Yes, there is a limit to his ability. But no-one in our team runs more, works harder or takes a better set-piece.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

The better team overall from the start. Bizarre handball for the penalty.

Did Reynolds strike come aff Clark's shidder?

Glad Shanks got some service the day. Yeah Pawlett played well the day. It's a real shame nane or his attempts found the back oe the net.

The last 10 mins were a bit scary. Agree with Bowers and Shakey. Edwards had'nae a clue aboot the Coonty player leading to their goal.

3 points well deserved.

MOTM for me. Benji.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

I'd love to see us go to Paisley on Friday night and really have a go at them. 9 points from this block of 3 games (county, st mirren, accies) is massively doable now and would put us in a fantastic position to be miles away from 11th position which, at the end of the day, is all that matters. It may not have been pretty against Dons and Sheep, alongside Livi, Killie and Sevco, but there have certainly been spells in the games against Motherwell, Ross County x2, St Mirren and Hamilton where we looked very sharp, very dangerous and actually good to watch. Pawlett gets our goal of the season if that one went in (which it really should have).

We still have Chalmers to come back in and McNulty/Fuchs to improve their sharpness. I hope McNulty's injury isnt too bad.

His brilliant brace will have made him undropable so who to leave out for McNulty to come in?

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

For me it was more akin to games at the start of the season. We worked harder and played a bit of football. Probably because county let you play a bit and don’t try to ruin things like Livi do as much. We’re much more suited to these sort of opponents.

Likewise at the start of the season, there wasn’t much between the sides but we just happened to do a bit more and get the points. Good habit to have. 5 points from 9 is decent. We’ll continue to be up and down this year so it’s important to grab chances like yesterday when they come.

I liked Robson and smith yesterday, both played well. Centre halves were ok but you can see where Edwards will get caught out in a flat back 4.

Shankland looks a bit short on confidence.  Last season he wouldn’t have passed to Pawlett or hesitated when asking for the through ball in the first 2 minutes.

Sporle, Chalmers, McNulty and Fuchs to come back in and improve things which is good. Just glad there were some overall signs of improvement and if indeed Mellon decided to lock down the defence and get steady for a few weeks then take the handbrake off a wee bit, credit to him. Very experienced if so.

Really?
I suggest you watch him a bit closer the next game, yes he's done well (goal wise) but the other suggestions are just nonsense.

I suggest you watch him harder. He never stopped running off the ball yesterday.

You seem to have it in for him.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ross County 31/10/20

I don't 'have it in' for any United player, I want them all to do well but I'm afraid Clark is a championship player at best, yesterday he took a good penalty and a deflection hit him in face, I challenge anyone to state what else positive he did in the game.
Shankland three times played a ball to him looking for a 1-2 and every time Clark couldn't make the pass, folk saying he's there to link the play are kidding themselves, If he's not good enough to play as a striker then he's simply not good enough imo.

Clarks work rate yesterday was sensational, yes work rate and effort is the minimum you should expect from any player, but playing the way we are just now and the job the front players are being asked to do isn’t easy.  He never stopped closing down and working for the team, anyone saying differently wasn’t watching.  He’s also better on the ball than most United fans give him credit for, he’s certainly not the best striker we’ve ever had, but he’s the first name on the team sheet for me just now, playing these tactics.
