Check out the Brian Graham thread on United Mad and give me your honest opinion if the time elapsed since 1987 has changed our opinions on the game?

imho our fans have went fae the best in the land to a section being some of the worst
if you remember st obswell a certain opinionated mate of ours once saying in a drunken rant in the airport in majorca...
'united fans dinna hae a clue and Dundee fans are stupid as fuck'
hate to say it but sometimes that sticks in my head...

Part of the issue is the internet IMO.
Due to the growth of forums and social media folk seem to think that they are due an answer to stuff at the club immediately. An example is after the final you had folk tweeting the DUFC twitter DEMANDING and apology because the players had went out after the final. Now maybe it was ill advised but to demand an apology is beyond the pale IMO. They're futba players and we support a futba team. Thats it. The online slagging of players is a bit much as well. I hated Barry Douglas. Proper hated him. Waited until he left though before really venting my fury on him.
A lot of folk take themselves, United and futba too seriously

aye decent point mate
the mate i refer to, years ago, meant it was, as a lot of clubs have, a lot of johnny come latelys due to success....people fae better backgrounds all of a sudden jump on the bandwagon to 'support' a club cause they've became good and become 'uber' fans (due to being able to afford to) who follow the club all over the place...
where as Dundee fans, who were traditionallly fae working class area's like the Hulltoon etc, followed the club through thick and thin regardless cause it might be all they have
maybe a lot of shite but i see a lot in what he meant at the time
people laugh at Dundee's support and craw about ours...10 years in the fundesliga and you'd be coonting our support on an abacus imo
the internet i agree with...people who were never a voice growing up, in the school playground, the street corner, or the boozer, all of a sudden can voice their mongo opinion on a messageboard and before you know it it gathers support, then filters into the ground..you see some utd fans on message boards who almost become like celebs themselves!!! its mental when you see it happen cause they were nobodys until the internet became the focal point of futba discussion
re flood and daly...seen them getting interviewed on arbazone 18 months ago when they were getting doags...they looked like they were hating being at tannadice...that makes my blood boil
why? cause some thick muppets made their life hell...
see Brian Graham...aye he's no marco van basten..i'll stick up for him till he walks oot the door...why? cause i'm no geeing in to the half wits

The whole 'superfan' thing really gets on my tits. I had the misfortune of sitting behind some of them a few years ago at a game at McDairmid and the abuse they dished out to certain players was shocking. Most of them were totally pished and clearly didn't have a scooby about football. The internet has given these cretins a voice and more often than not it isn't pretty. The telling thing is these guys are generally in their 20's and never saw Utd in the 80's or early 90's and have no idea what those teams were built on yet they seem to think we have a devine right to win because we were successful back then.

I remember being in Athen's and the boy behind us did nothing but abuse the team for 90 minutes.
Long way to go to shout abuse at your team!
See if Brian Graham had been in our team about 10 years ago we would probably have loved him.

I had the same problem down at Leeds and decided to move seats away from my friends to get away from the boo boy behind me rather than spoil the day. It was a friendly after all and pity the fans that sit beside that lad at Tannadice. Certain fans need to look up the definition of a supporter before we lose our reputation as a fair minded society of Arabs
