Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

Going to Glasgow for the night with the missus. If it had been any other side but Celtic I would have tried to get an early train back onb the Sunday. Don't even think I'll bother watching it in the boozer through there tbh.

Would probably go with that side though TEK with maybe Dillon in for Watson. Butcher should start need a bit of steel in midfield v Scott Brown. Wouldn't surprise me if he got sent off though. Wonder what the odds would be on Brown and Butcher seeing red in this game

Telfer for GMS and that would do for me

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

Butcher probably will see red,Brown won't though.

I picked the back 4 that got us the most clean sheets this season

Watson Morris Fojut Dillon

Think Dillon's quite underated by our fans at Left Back tbh.I don't mind Townsend but i'm not sure about him defensively,we seemed to keep more clean sheets when he was out the side injured.

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

I just hope we don't crumble against them. They are average but the spine of their side is filled with the best keeper, best centre half, best midfielder and best striker in the league.

The poorest Celtic side in years but still miles ahead of the rest

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

It might bizarrely help us that we played so poorly yesterday.

Normally when we go into this fixture in good form and start believing we might get a result against them we inevitably lose an early goal in the game and our heids go down (players+fans).

Nobody will expect anything fae this match so the longer we can keep a clean sheet in the match maybe a wee bit of belief might be injected into the players.

If we get stuffed 'ach well',we normally do anyway.

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

We've not got the bottle to beat Celtic.

This is the game where we should play everyone on the fringes and see if they can do a job.

Szromnik

Dillon
Morris
Butcher
Spittal

Smith
Fraser
Petrie
Telfer

Connolly

Bilate

Should all start, and I don't even know if they're all fit or maybe even out on loan!

We played our strongest XI with a 100% record against them in August and got humped.

I can see us losing three on the bounce going in to the derby.

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

Here's what Celtic would dae to this team Andy boy.

              Szromnik
Dillon  Morris Butcher Spittal
     Smith Fraser Petrie
        Telfer Connolly
                Bilate

Thankfully 3 of those lads are on loan.

Jackie's tactical ineptness shows In games like Celtic.

Rodge that's not a bad shout changing to 4-5-1.

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

Jackie doesn't change formations hence why I don't have much faith In him at time.

That 4-5-1 could work tbh, Tek.

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

I hear ya,Rodge.

Far too open against Celtic at times.

Pick a team that will kick, bite and scratch first and foremost and then if were still in the match in the second half throw on a fresh pair of legs or two to run at them.

Re: Dundee United V's Celtic - 21st December 12.15pm

I'd be surprised, we have a manager who tries his best to play football how he see's it and tbh I've seen some of the most exciting football under him, agree it's terror able at times but more often better, i personally think we're doing a lot better now than in the past when every game we walked to and from Tannadice with our heads down like walking to a burial. Let's not get too upset at where we are just now and embrace the ups and downs that come with supporting United

Hear their shout, hear their roar
They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more
Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah

In 8/10 games domestically we can afford to just 'play our game'.

There are certain games it is naive to stick to the same game plan however.

Celtic have proven time after time that if we make the game open they will pick us off.

Our last win against them was a 1-0 under Houstie. We were stuffy as fuck that day and played first and foremost for the clean sheet.Scored fae a corner when they were complacent.

Would take that on Saturday like.

Celtic have sold out their 5500. We have 90 seats left. Great going.

Watched many games when we attempted to stifle them, especially Alex Smith era, and failed. Personally think the best form of defence is attack and also believe the best Utd performances recently are when we are on the front foot and press very high.

May seem mental, but I'd rather we played my way, and lost 6-1, than your way, and lost 1-0.
