Game v Motherwell

Friendly match at Motherwell tomorrow, no sure what time kick off is.

Hopefully get updates from Utd twitter, be interesting to see what sort of team Micky selects for his first game, Cammy Smith back involved, Clark seems to be in full training after his injury and probably a few youngsters will get some minutes too.

Re: Game v Motherwell

We have 28 players in pre-season training so I'd expect a very big squad to head down there.

What young players make up that 28?

Re: Game v Motherwell

Micky Mellon must be well excited. How good must it be to be a football manager? Apart from getting sacked every eighteen months that is!

Lewis Neilson, Archie Meekison, Kai Fotheringham, Chris Mochrie, Darren Watson are the very young ones in training.

Then theres the 19/20 year olds: Freeman, Ross Graham, Jake Davidson, Chalmers, Glass, the new Goalie too!

Cheers, heard good things about Fotheringham, hope they can all push on.

Re: Game v Motherwell

Hopefully someone from the club live tweets or at the very least writes up a post-match report.

Fans are starved of any Utd action.

Re: Game v Motherwell

Wonder if United are going to use any of these pre-season games as a way to test the streaming ahead of the St. Johnstone game

You would like to think so when they arrange a friendly at Tannadice.

Any idea who against? Would imagine there be 1 or 2 more between then and now.

Sorry mate no idea. Joe Rice was asked on twitter and he said they are hoping to test it at a home game on the 25th. This is also the same day Celtic are requesting to do a 'test event' with a small crowd and Parkhead.

He said they hope to have goal clips and interviews of any other friendlies too.

Honestly hoping the club at the very least do the team line ups, a bit of build up footage etc then goal clips and interviews tonight. We have been starved of our team being in any action at all in over 4 months now!

I am literally craving a tweet that says 'McMullan takes on 3 men but cant quite keep his cross in play'

Give it to me United!!!!!

Re: Game v Motherwell

Players who didn't feature from what I can see:

Shankland
Butcher
McMullan
Benji

Anyone I've missed?

Re: Game v Motherwell

Is this the strip we wore last pre-season? Or new one?

p.s. should we be concerned at the lack of Shankland, Butcher and McMullan? Injured? 🤔

Re: Game v Motherwell

Butcher and McMullan were both carrying injuries before last season came to an abrupt end but all 4 have been training so don’t think anything too serious for any of them.

Re: Game v Motherwell

I would have thought this is just the usual new boss pre season friendly thing where you want to look at a few players that don't normally get game time, and nothing to worry about.  What is MM really going to learn watching Shankland play?

I'm sure it is being used as a chance to get some players in the shop window.as well.  I doubt there will be a lot of transfer fees going around this summer, but clubs will still need to shift players that don't fit in with the managers plans to make space for any new recruits.
