Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Camp 5, for those asking (bowers, Tobias, etc), or others who wrongly assume there is a moral judgement over texts to this opinion.

Over and above his poor managerial record, and his failure to implement any improvement or anything of note at the SFA, and even ignoring the 'stuff which offends snowflakes', ie text stuff, did you ever wonder how the texts came into the open? Why his phone company were obliged to release information between two private individuals?

I've mentioned a few times here about his financial dealings, allied with Iain Moody, his text partner in crime. I don't want to be paying the wages of someone who has allegedly misappropriated funds which didn't belong to him.

Seems to be 3 camps of fans when it comes to Mackay:

1) disgusted and asking for refunds

2) would still support the team but would prefer he wasnt appointed due to how it looks from the outside and the potential division of the support

3) dont give a fuck about his past and just want the best man for the job. I must say there are 1 or 2 comments ive seen from people in this camp that have been pretty distasteful. However it is certainly a minority.

Fwiw I am in camp 2. If he gets the job, I'll still be there to support my team. I would just rather we went for someone else.

The 3 camps for me going by the comments I’ve seen are
1. Don’t believe in 2nd chances
2. Do believe in 2nd chances but would rather it wasn’t us giving them
3. Don’t really care what was said because apparently “all males do it”

Gonna be some laugh when it turns out we’re not even talking to him

If he is appointed will you be back at tannadice under his management?

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

I'm all for second chances, but it was not as if he was a naive young lad when he made these comments.  Put it this way, if i was the father of a young player who was BAME I would think twice about sending him to our Academy if Mackay was the ultimate boss.  That is not a reputation we need.  Similarly with a tarnished reputation south of the border he's hardly likely to be first choice for loan deals which are going to be needed to sustain us in this league.  So if it is him then he's going to be judged very quickly on whether he can turn his image around.  I think I'm still in the second chance but prefer not with us camp even if that is a little hypocritical.

PS - I was shocked when the SFA gave him the job he is doing now.  One because of the texts and two because I doubted he would be any good at it (which seems to have been proved by most accounts).  Maybe Ogren is a Trump voter...

It is hypocritical, it’s also exactly where I am.

Plus all the other stuff aside, he’s still not in my top 5 choices in a footballing sense.

Of course, the answer's 'Yes'. But I didn't have to buy the full priced season which I bought, and did so to support the club in times of financial difficulty. So I'd ask for it to be refunded.

Can I ask why anyone thinks Mackay would be a good choice?

I read that he handed his phone back to the club (bet he wishes he hadn't) when he left. Cardiff with their dodgy owner who is in the cream puff hands it to the FA who find 3 out of 9,000 texts that are offensive. 3 out of 9,000 is pretty damned good, clean as a whistle. To find 3 offensive texts on my phone I'd be happy out of about 900 maybe.

Now, financial improprieties.... no more than alleged, that's all, never taken up on it....Can I just chuck in 'arry Redknapp here out of the blue if I may? If he was coming here, now I would kick up an almighty stink. A more crooked, horrible man you will not find in the world of pro football. He's got away with murder & every other offence over the years, now sits pretty never off the tele & to cap it all he wins that fukn jungle thing, should have left him there. Look into his eyes. Harry Redknapp makes Malky Mackay seem like Mother Theresa.

Grow up ffs all of you.

SmedDUm, what you've written doesn't answer the part you emboldened.

But what's the point of bothering with all of this? Cannae see him getting the job anyway.

You ask 'did we ever wonder how the texts came out into the open?'
Cos Cardiff City set him up cos they'd fallen out.
What bit do you not understand?

I don't think there has been much if any support for him. Just a debate whether his past should rule him out.

Still Barry Robson for me

That's the bit you didn't answer. By the way, 'arry Redknapp stuck up for Maly Mackay at the time.

Mmmm, I think I did.  I'd agree that it would be great if we didn't need them, but if you look at most teams in the prem., even Rangers and Celtic then they are using loan players from EPL teams.  My point is would Mackay jeopardise that route?  Granted it hasn't been a great success before, but I would expect that you can get a better quality player as we are now in a better league.

The point here is that times have changed since Mackay's last downfall and they would now be even harsher on his previous misdemeanours.  I am not sure it is about growing up - the inference of that is that 'things are the way they are and that they won't change' - I'd like to think they can change.  If that means I still need to grow up at nearly 50 then I'll take that...

Fair comment - I just think we'll need a bit more than we can afford to splash out for permanent members of staff.  We'll see though.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

If Finn is a bit reluctant to explain I think I can...
Firstly I'm sure his tongue is firmly in his cheek.
If you're daft enough to vote for Trump you're daft enough to vote for Mackay.
In terms of appointing our next permanent manager.
Finn might equally have said, 'maybe Asghar is a Boris Johnson voter'.

I agree with the first bit of the jibe if not the second.

I never said he was, but if he was, he might be less inclined to worry about Mackay's background, in my opinion of course.

Nearly!  I don't think I am necessarily saying that anyone is 'daft enough'.  What I would say though is that I suspect that Boris is at least a little bit less of a racist than the jingoistic Trump. Similarly to thinking 'we' in the UK are societally less racist than they are in the US - in a grand scheme of things way.
