It's been mentioned by others but I like the idea of Barry Robson.
Knows the Scottish game well young, hungry and won't take any shit.
I've talked myself into it.

I read that today. Certainly not what I read it as. McCulloch has made it clear in the past year that he didnt enjoy management and i loving being a coach.
Obviously never say never, but I cant see it being McCulloch.

Hope yer right. Great lad to have around the players but not as a manager please. I'd be mair dissapointed with him leaving than the Neilson.

Question to you all
Next manager what route do you think we’ll go down, tried and tested experienced manager or a younger manger??
I’ve got a feeling it will be a younger manager with little to know experience as a head coach, can see a boys like robson, rankin or a Lee mcculloch getting it! Thoughts
Also heard a name yesterday from dads pal, Stephen glass currently at Atalanta 2
Not a problem Mr Roache

2 sides to considering Wright, maist who rate him is on the back of respect for achievements on a low budget and a feeling he undid Jackie Mac a shitload of times tactically in a row.
Concern is we have had managers that pissed off the support by not having a plan B or played attacking enough fitba to satisfy the support.
Not sure how he'd do with our current squad and craved style. Wanted him mair that maist candidates mentioned so far but still unsure.
Even started to worry we won't get him with N. I. interviews the morn.
Will it be a late runner that gets the job that naecunt expects?
Worrying about league status, budgets and Covid19 related knock on makes it hard to focus on what's what and who might be who we want.
Tough job for those who run the club at this time.

Honestly mate I wouldnt bet on it not coming from a wee peek on here.
Out of interest, did you hear he was being considered or what is just a "Utd should go for him"?

That is hugely dissapointing if true.

The more i think about it, the more i think we're gonna appoint Stephen Glass.
Which leaves me feeling underwhelmed. Massively so.

Hearts wanting McCulloch and Forrest to join Neilson at Tynecastle.
But Asghar has both on the shortlist for the Manager's role. According to the Daily Record.
Fucking Hell.

Might it be that he isnt under consideration because he doesnt want to be? Might depend on how his interview with NI goes this week. Although going by Ogren's comments on Neilson leaving... would he want someone who sees Utd as 2nd choice to another job at this time?

Fucking Hell.
I think (and fucking pray) that the scenario is:
IF we hire a younger manager who doesnt have a settled backroom staff - they stay on. Which is fine by me.
Or we hire someone who wants to bring in their own and then they are allowed to go. I doubt Hearts are in a massive rush to appoint and we'd be silly to let go before knowing who is coming in.
Putting them on his 'shortlist' maybe just keeps them around a bit longer so we know where we are.

We used to get linked with Glass as a player all the time.
Don't think he'd be a smashing choice, it cracks me up to say. Teams would see right through his tactics, and we'd have to shatter the wage structure to get him.
That's enough.

He might give the team more of a cutting edge though.

Whilst i'm not against either being kept on as coaches, neither should for one minute be considered for the Manager's role.
They should just be asked honestly if they want to follow Neilson to Tynecastle. If they do (which i strongly suspect they will) then let both go in the coming days.
The new man would want his own coaches anyway, i'd imagine.

Scott Burns saying neither Craig Levein nor Tommy Wright are under consideration.
But Lee McCulloch and Gordon Forrest are.
We are gonna take the young, cheap rookie option ain't we? 😣

Jens Lehmann also a non-starter apparently.

The plus from that is they know the players, system etc. McCulloch might have a ‘point to prove’ but Neilson knows our list of targets.

I don't really buy it mate.
Forrest has never been a Manager. McCulloch only very briefly at Killie (with disastrous results).
McCulloch seemed to be good for dressing room morale and a friend to the players. But it is very hard to change that 'good cop, bad cop' dynamic once you have established it. Peter Houston managed to do it but he was a far better coach than people gave him credit for.
Another point is that McCulloch was asked fairly recently if he fancied being a Manager again during a Simon Ferry interview and he said 'to be honest no. I'm just enjoying stepping back from being the main man and working at Utd under Robbie' Or words to that effect.
My hunch is this will all be a moot point anyway as both will want to follow Neilson to Edinburgh.

I SEE it differently. Ok it would be a CLEAN break from our usual appointment but if we don't act quickly the WINDOW will be shut on him. Also what would it cost, Ogren may be very wealthy but he's no GLAZER.

Agree with all that, was just pointing out a plus in it. Or what could be perceived as a plus
Whoever it is don't get too excited, he's gonna get the sack. Or go to Hearts..
Not so much McNamara or Csaba (but still a wee bit) but with Paatelainen, McKinnon & Neilson I honestly thought all my birthdays had come at once, I was whooping, celebrating.
P.S.
Check out McBookie's list...PMSL...
Adam Asghar
Bixente Lizarazu (I haven't a fn clue either)
Jurgen Klinsmann
Henrik Larsson
Ian's dad John Harkes is there too.
