Paul Paton

Watched a wee interview this afternoon of Paul Paton talking about getting released from the Pars via text 😒, for those interested have a listen to him reflect on his period at United and the feelings he still has for us.

57.21 minutes in

Quite remarkable for a guy that grew up on the west side of Scotland to speak so fondly of our club.

fingers crossed he gets a new club.

Re: Paul Paton

Always liked Pates. Limited, ability wise, compared to some of the players we had on our books at the time.

But if they had all had his heart we would have won at least one cup in that time.

Re: Paul Paton

Very surprised that Dunfermline are not holding on to him for at least one more season. Sad to hear him mention in the video that if he doesnt get any offers from lower Prem/upper Champ then he'll consider going Part-time and finding another job outside of football. Just shows the fragile nature of life as a footballer.

For what its worth he could do a job for any championship team. A bit too late for him to make it at a Premiership club again unless he was ok with being maybe 4th or 5th choice in his position which I'm sure he wouldnt enjoy. Maybe Partick will take him back if they do end up being in League 1. Who knows. Nice words about United and he showed how much the club meant to him when he was here.

I get pissed off when people go on about how much of a minter it is or slag people off for applauding ex-players. They are human beings and if fans felt some kind of connection with them (which we definitely did with Paton) then fans are well within their right to give them a wee bit of applause when they return to Tannadice.

I have never been overly keen for him to return HOWEVER I would have picked him over Adam Barton and Christopher Rabitsch every day of the week.

Scary stuff.
