Ilmari Niskanen

According to reports in Finland, we’re after a young winger from over there called Ilamri Niskanen.

Hope he’s nothing like the last Finnish winger we signed.

Some great goals there. Here's another video that looks at some of his assists as well.

We all know YouTube isnt the place to judge players but cant deny he looks decent from the footage available. A Conway type of player. Two footed winger. Can chip in with goals and assists it would seem.

Couldnt get it to translate on the page. So for anyone having similar issues:

Ilmari Niskanen's hopes of moving abroad may receive quick solutions. Dundee United, who will return to the Scottish Premier League next season, is interested in the Kuopio player, but the corona pandemic has slowed the progress of a possible transfer.

Niskanen's contract with Kuopio Ball Club will continue until the autumn of 2021, so KuPS will not give up its star player for free. The Niskanen agreement specifies a sale price of EUR 200,000.

Jussi Pellikka, who acts as Niskanen's agent, confirms the interest of the Scottish Society.

- A lot of work has been done on this, but Korona has slowed down this as well. Dundee United has been interested in "Imis", and hopefully that interest will also materialize. We expect that there will be an official offer for KuPS, Pellikka says.

In addition to Dundee United, Niska has also been interested in a couple of Swiss clubs.

Mixu Paatelainen represented Dundee United, playing at Dannadice Park, which draws 14,223 spectators for his home match in the periods 1987–1992, and served as the club’s manager for 2015–2016.

According to Savon Sanomat, Niskanen would have been invited to the international matches to be played against Poland and France in the winter. However, the national matches were canceled due to the corona pandemic.

Re: Ilmari Niskanen

Hope we can find 200,000 Euros.
Looks like he's got attitude too.

P.S. Yeah, beware the dangers of YouTube assessment. You never get a bad one, do you?

I have a few Finnish friends, mostly living in Vassa and Helsinki. I'll get on the phone tomorrow and see if they know anything about him.

I'll be sure to message Tony Asghar if it's bad news 😂😂😂

Spoke to said Finnish friend, was a key player when KuPS won the Finnish league, said that he'd maybe manage a step up but he's not brilliant. Reckoned Scotland would be seen as a sideways jump to get to England because 'your leagues not much better than ours'. Don't know about that like but his words.

Have zero on the Finnish league myself but if we are about the shell out a fee to bring a 22 year old player over i imagine it is 100% with the intention to sell him on in say 2 year time for a bigger fee.

Re: Ilmari Niskanen

The price of this boy has gone from 180k up to 300k within a few days. A non-starter if thats the kind of money we are dealing with.

Re: Ilmari Niskanen

Have any other clubs been named? The report I read said United and some swiss clubs... be odd if they named us but no one else - ie trying to hike up the price.

Tbh I think this is the EXACT kind of player we are going to sign - like shankland, on the cusp of a national call up but needs the platform. I'd guess we are gambling on players like this who we can get some national caps, multiply the price by 10 and sell on ( say buy for 150k, sell for 1.5m) in a more lucrative market (england)

No other teams mentioned, no.

Kevin Nisbet was mentioned in the daily record but just in passing as if to say we are still interested in him. Dunfermline releasing 17 players is a sign they might be struggling financially. I dont like to see other clubs struggling because of CV19 but might put us in a good position to sign him for less than we would have had to previously.

Re: Ilmari Niskanen

Tbh - shankland out for a profit, nisbet in for much less would be decent business....guess it's all about timing - you go to dunfermline with a few million in your pocket and they are going to want a chunk of it

Am I out of order wanting baith in a 4-4-2?

Owners say they want European fitba. These 2 up front will help that happen mair likely than taking a chance on a splatter of other positions if you get what I mean.

Absolutely not. I want Pav too to be honest.

Re: Ilmari Niskanen

Pav - great signing. What's his situation  ?

Nisbett - no bad. Bit of an unknown quantity as regards Premiér League.

The young Finnish lad - how would you know based on stupid Youtube scouting, never again do it on this basis, hopefully we've now got more sense. Has Pataaleinen recommended him or what ?   Do notice that he plays on shitey plastic over there which wouldn't hurt.
Morphman sas his team won Finnish First Division - likely as good as our Premier League (happy)

Got tae be, got tae be 4-4-2   - anything else you're defending straightaway and 2 at the front gives you a much better lamp it up the park option instead ae  this boring, predictable,  pitty pat fuckin side tae side complete shite.

We need tae be lookin ahead tae January transfer windae & continuity when we lose Shankland .   Nicky Clark comeback a plus.

Re: Ilmari Niskanen

Think back to previously successful seasons - you need good cover in the striking dept.

2010 we had Daly, Goodie, Casalinuovo, Cadamarteri, Sandaza, Shala - all played a part, all scored important goals throughout the season (even Shala ffs)

If by some miracle we have some disposable cash to play with, go and get Nisbet and Pav. Why not? On the Dode Fox podcast this week, the Tele reporter George Cran just casually dropped into conversation that he's spoken to Pav and he'd love to come back - MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Shankland, Nisbet, Clark, Appere, Safranko. Now theres a strikeforce that would guarantee goals throughout the season, no matter who got injured, suspended or dropped in form - we'd ALWAYS have someone we could rely on to take a goal.

Thats the kind of depth you need to be successful. Plus Appere and Clark can play different positions as shown last year. What a statement of intent it would be.

I realise this post is maybe more at home in the rumours thread... but there we go.
