Mal Brannigan punted

Wow.

Must have gotten above his station regards the releasing of that car crash DUSF Statement. Went ahead and not okayed it with Ogren?

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Perhaps something to do with the statement with regards to the foundation?

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Surprising to say the least. An important role within the club. Very important the next appointment is a wise one.

Possibly.

The renewal of season tickets has also been a fuck up so maybe that was the last straw.

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

100% to do with the statement I would think, very surprising! Next appointment is big

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Maybe nothing in it ...but this is interesting. Why would the club allow him to represent Utd at the meeting knowing he was gonna be sacked just a couple of hours later?

"Dundee United, who also were invited to the meeting, were represented by Mal Brannigan.

However, within a couple of hours, the winners of the Championship announced that the chief executive had left his post with immediate effect."

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Shifty looking boy. Wonder if his blowing in the media about winning trophies and competing in Europe, on the top of the Foundation fall out under Mark Ogren's name, has had an influence.

Or maybe it's all innocent, who knows?

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Lot of speculation on this thread...

But it's difficult to think it's not related to the Foundation fall out

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Does the statement not read like there's more of a mutual aspect to the separation?
Yes there's been foundationgate but that he was allowed to represent us at the meeting today hardly suggests he's been dismissed.

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Yes...nothing says he's been dismissed, punted or sacked....however I wouldn't be surprised if he had been.

Wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Chris McLaughlin from his Sun article today. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/spo...dministration/

Wouldn’t think so. The debt is all due to the Ogren’s, so it would be him that would take the hit.

He’ll not give up on his investment now that we’ve been promoted.

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

There was a meeting yesterday between the 12 Premiership clubs and United, I wonder if the outcome of that meeting has shaped this decision.

Not really, no.

Leaving his role with 'immediate effect' wouldn't imply it was mutual.

The fact that he was in the paper yesterday morning talking about plans for the future suggests it wasn’t a mutual parting of the ways. Something’s obviously went down all of a sudden to force this decision.

Shame, was in his company on a night out just before the pandemic hit and he’s a really decent bloke, very keen to engage with the fans and take their considerations on board.

Yeah, guess you might be right. maybe just wishful thinking on my part.
I met him just the once and he came over as likeable, mild mannered & genuine.
His CV is impressive.too, I thought we'd pulled in a good 'un.

Re: Mal Brannigan punted

Perhaps there are personal reasons MB has had to leave, hence the suddenness, and terse looking statement from the club.

Little doubt this pandemic will be hurting us badly financially but there can be little doubt, the Rangers must be on the cusp of administration. Won’t bore you with my rationale as we’re here to talk United but I’m almost certain it’s a formality.
