Would give my left nut - you wouldn't want it trust me - to see Hainey's goal v Barca. Any footage anyone ?
One of my earliest memories in life, I was age 9 or 10 my father and sitting above players tunnel. I just remember Hainey getting ball, seemed like it was just Shed side of centre line on far side from us and lashing it. Like 40 yards out. When it went in what I remember was for a split second nobody believed it. Amazing, 30,000 erupted and that was the happiest I ever saw him in all his life.

Greetings Shakey & welcome to the Tekdome on such an historic day.
My memory of Billy Hainey's goal in the return leg v Barcelona at Tannadice is as often described, the classic 'cross-come-shot'. But is 'a hoof into the unknown' not a better description?
So shed end, inside right/right wing, right foot, 30 yards (ok 25), blooter, goal. 4-1 on aggregate. Barcelona.
Goalies hate 'cross-come-shots', they have a tendency to swerve & dip & scrape the underside of the bar on their way in. At best the goalie can manage to tip the ball over the bar but end up a crumpled heap caught in the back of the net.
Do you ever bump into Sandy Davie Shakey? Have you got a Fan Club over there? Shakey Arabs sounds great.

Great to be in on this auspicious day for all Arabs - finally ! And great to hear memories of that goal.
Nearest I came to Sandy Davie was on Dode Fox.
Yup, could be worth starting a club for the name, might be tempting fate.

Billy Hainey was my hero when I was a wee lad. Hence my nom de plume.
I was at the Barca match, I've still got my old mans Ticket and Programme, with changes to line up written on the page by him.
My memories of the match are a bit vague. I was only 4 and a half. I remember I'd never seen so many folk at Tannadice, this being my 1st Season going to football matches. Even in the streets around the ground. I remember my old man speaking to 2 Hearts supporters next to us in the Bovril Stand, who'd came thru from Edinburgh to attend the match.
Strangest memory after the game. The old man had parked the car at the bottom of Caird Avenue. I mind oe walking along Marryat Street and it was bloody brass monkees, and can mind complaining to the old man about it. We got to the car, straight home to the Hawkhill. Inta the hoose, and I'll never forget this. My old man says to my mither. "We've just baet Barcelona and he's moarnin aboot the cald".

Hahaha, good one.
And then on to Juve. Old man told me we didn't have a shitshow . ... we didn't have a shitshow. Cattenaccio.
But who cares, Barca, great night.
