His father was involved in the import of timber and pulp from Norway which was used for making items such as pit props and paper for the news industry. Many Norwegian families settled in the north east of England for work, some immigrating to gain employment in shipbuilding as well, or to work in the merchant and fishing fleets. There was a large Norwegian Seaman's Mission in North Shields, 10 miles from Blyth.

The family wasn't just 'passing through', they were permanent residents, with Albert Lawrence Juliussen (not very Norwegian forenames) eventually serving in the British forces. Doubt he was ever in Norway, but don't know for certain.

Pretty sure you're at the wind-up but i can assure you despite his name, Albert Juliussen was from the N.E. of England and then spent the rest of his life in Dundee, where he eventually died.

His mother & father were both Norwegian. Don't know what they were doing in Blyth but having him there does not make him English. One of my daughters who is as Scottish as a haggis supper with a can of Irn Bru happened to have my grandson in Newcastle but that does not make him English. My son-in-law is Australian where they now stay and where my grandson has dual nationality but HE IS DEFINITELY NOT ENGLISH.

Yes, I guess I an on the wind-up a wee bit but Tek's question might have read 'Who is United's top-scoring player who was born in England?' ....But then again they were dodgy wartime goals anyway....and he is in the Hall of Fun.

I'd still give the point to the Founder...grudgingly, but I still think Rory Boulding is the correct answer.

Just because his patents were Norwegian doesn't make him Norwegian. Doubt he's even set foot in Norway.

But he was born and spent his formative years in England. That's a FACT.

Then why would he have a daughter called FJORD??

Sorry, I'm away to watch the tele, bored rigid

Boulding scored 1 did he not? Butchers scored more than that. 5 I think

Lowingham Braidford scored 6 in the Dundee Hibs days.

Aye B&T but Rory's solitary goal was worth 10.
Is Lowingham Braidford real??
If so we need a Fans Club named after him
