Dundee United Question of the Day #2

Decided to make this question another that can be worth 2 points.

On Saturday 13th May 1989 legendary Dundee United Striker Paul Sturrock played his last ever match for the club in a surprise 0-1 loss to (the already relegated) Hamilton Accies.

Can you name me 2 other notable things about the match that day?A point for each.

Re: Dundee United Question of the Day #2

tough one, two random guesses

1. last time a united goalkeeper was allowed to pick up a pass back
2. 5th consecutive season we lost our final game of the season (85 cup final, 86 ? , 87 UEFA cup final, 88 cup final)

^^^^^^^^^^^  he's good. Auld folk moaned like fuck because they'd bought a season ticket, and what did they get?

Since Tek quite often mentions the Accies, I'd guess it was their first away victory over United in the top league.

I mind the game, as I do the match before we played Real Rangers in the 94 Final, where Raith beat us at home. Both, in my head, were similarly frustrating (with different scores of course).

Mind that Raith game well too Pat.  Had a season ticket for the Shed but we were all moved to the Jerry Kerr as the Shed terracing had been ripped up after the previous home game against St Johnstone.

Mind the Hamilton game too - was in the Fair Play enclosure that day.

1 point to Pat.

It was indeed Accies 1st ever victory against Utd in the Premier League.

It was also their 1st and only away win that season.

I couldn't understand Utd taking that match so lightly. We could have went above Celtic into 3rd on the last day if we had given Accies 4 or 5 as we had done earlier in the season.

As it was we rested players and generally treated the match like a pre-season friendly.
