First Gig - First gig I went to with my mates was to see Ocean Colour Scene at the SECC in 1999. Support was a band called shack. They were booed off stage, I thought this was normal but I've never seen it since. OCS started with The Riverboat Song, crowd went mental, being 13 and pretty small I nearly shat myself. Once I got used to the crowd moving around and falling over I thought it was the best thing ever. Hooked.

Worst Gig - Lucky enough not to have seen too many. Seen a band called Caffine in the basement of the 13th Note Club in Glasgow. There were about 7 people there; the singer was trying to get the 'crowd' going. One mentalist started dancing around the middle of the room and shouted to everyone else, ' where the fuck were yous?' when the song had finished. I felt sorry for them and bought their CD. Dire.

Favourite Gig - Always going to be hard to pick one out. First gig is always a memorable one. Prodigy at T in the Park 2005. Pantera at the Barras in 2000 was mental. OCS at O2 academy after a Scotland game, everyone was already pished, atmosphere was fantastic. Went to Toots and the Maytals on my own - one of my best decisions, it was fantastic.

Favourite Venue - I have to admit I have not been to many venues other than in Glasgow or Edinburgh. Went to the London Apollo to see The Specials which was ok but I always look forward to going to the Barras. Apart from being good for the music, it’s a hole and I hope it never changes. Always stinks of cheap burgers. Same woman working in the cloakroom who has looked 70 for the last 15 years. Same guy, probably in the same suit, cutting about looking for underage drinkers. Trying to find a cubicle with a lock if you are unfortunate enough to be bursting for a shite and thinking to yourself that Bible Johns arse cheeks may have graced the same shitter – sinister.

Biggest Regret – Not seen AC/DC, The Pogues or Rage Against the Machine but still holding out hope. Would have loved to have seen the Allman Brothers Band with Dickie Betts, the Beastie Boys, Ramones and Thin Lizzy.

Too many bands, not enough money.

First gig I went to was the Beastie Boys at the SECC in 1999 for their Intergalactic tour. I remember they had a huge inflatable robot outside just like in the intergalactic video. Went through early to get in the front row, the show was in the round so the stage was in the middle of the hall so it was pretty easy to get a space. My ribs were bruised the next day after getting crushed when they played Sabotage, it was brilliant! Even better MTV was there to film it and showed an edited version of the concert later that night.

Worst gig was a toss up of The Offspring at the SECC (the band and singer was shite live) and Weezer at the Barras. Rivers Cuomo the lead singer was going through a stroppy spell and he purposly had his mic turned down real low so you could only hear the band play and not his singing. Really frustrating as it was the Maladroit tour when the majority of the material was their early stuff.

Favourite Gig was November 8th 2009. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band at Madison Square Garden NYC. This was my 30th birthday present from the wife, I am a huge Springsteen fan, I saw them already at Hampden the year before, which was probably my secong favourite gig, but to see him at MSG was just something else. I had heard he was doing special one off sets playing one of his old albums from start to finish as a treat to his fans, a one night only deal, the Boss hadnt done it before and would only play one album in its entirity once with the band and never do the same again. That night was was his second and last night and the night before on his first set he played The Wild, the innocent and the E street shuffle with a live jazz band, so I was thinking he wouldnt do another one again. When we were seated he came on and belted out his new song (at the time) Wrecking Ball then he said "tonight we are going to do something special, tonight we are going to take you down to The River". The Boss and the band then went and done the whole double album note perfect, even done the album version of the title track instead of his usual extended live version of the river. And when he finished the album the band and Bruce took a bow, went off stage and less than a minute late came back to play another TWO HOURS of greatest hits and song requests. Not just one of my favourite gigs ever but also one of the best nights ever.

Favourite Venue discounting MSG would have to be the Barras. Always gets the best crowds. Honourable mentions go to The Garage in Glasgow, went to see TEK's favourite band Yellowcard there, the HMV picturehouse in Edinburgh where I saw The Gaslight Anthem and the Manchester Apollo where I saw Jimmy Eat World.

Most spectacular was Rammstien at the SECC (yes from Bruce Springsteen to Rammstien!). Fucking concert was mental, fireworks going off indoors, playing guitars on fire, singer coming out with a jacket on fire in a crucifix pose, dildos shooting out water over the audience and the keyboard guy 'crowd surfing' in an inflatable raft. Bonkers but still enjoyable.

Biggest regrets are missing The Smashing Pumpkins in their pomp circa Mellon Collie era with the original line up, have seen them many times since Billy Corgan brought the name back and he is still amazing at what he does. Other than that probably just people who are no longer with us, like the original Queen line up etc.

Still would like to go see Public Enemy, and now creeping into the mid 30's I would like to go to the Rewind festival as well, seems like a laugh. I have a very wide and weird range of musical tastes.

Jealous. Went to Springsteen gigs at Hampden, but that MSG concert takes some beating.

Not been to a rewind gig but seen the Human League at the Wickerman festival, surprised I enjoyed it until someone pished on my leg.

First Gig I went to was David Bowie Caird Hall 1973, absolutely blew me away the lighting, his energy how loud the music was and his showmanship, he'd just moved on from Ziggy Stardust to Aladdin Sane so we got treated to both!
Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders fron Mars is still one of the best albums I have, I love every single track and I cant say that for many albums!
Probably my best as well........ you always remember your first eh

Worst gig was Paul Weller at the Albert Hall 2004, now dont get me wrong I loved the Jam and The Style Council I
even bought his first solo album which wasn't bad, but I payed top dollar to see him and the cunt thought he was santana or hendrix F'kn 5 minute solos , shagging his guitar basically just fuckin aboot thinkin he's erchie, I ended up walking out and going fir a swally roond the corner to The Penny Farthing and it wis mobbed we people raging aboot Weller!

The most theactrical has got to be Pink at the O2 in London, my daughter is to young to go herself so I took on the burden of having to sit through the show and what a show, cant believe how much she puts into her performances she is non stop plus at the end she flys around the Arena about 15 feet above you on some sort of cable set up so all the audience gets a chance to see her close up !

First gig - When i was in my late teens i never really got too gigs as there are no venues in EK and any money i had spare fae my wages i spent on drinking,clothes,buying cd's and going to watch Utd.So my first gig was 2000 (i was 20 ffs).Not a bad first gig at all though.The Who at the SECC playing mostly the Quadrophenia album,which i am still to this day quite obsessed with.Joe Strummer+The Mescalaroes supported them and were also excellent.

Best gig - Cannae pick just one tbh.So gonnae cheat and pick a top 5 (in no real order).

1.The Strokes - Barrowlands
2.Arthur Lee+Love - Carling Academy,Glasgow
3.Gomez - T in the Park
4.Roger Waters/The Wall - Ajax Stadium,Amsterdam
5.Primal Scream 'Screamadelica tour' - Carling Academy,Glasgow (was in the wee balcony bit and Mani waved tae me,was pwoud).

oh and

6.Randy Newman - Glasgow Royal Concert Hall..oh and really cheeky
7.Eels - Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

Worst gig - Never been tae a 'terrible' gig,thankfully.But i was a wee bit dissapointed when i went to see Kings of Leon (about 2007) at the SECC.Their singer had a bad cold and mentioned it 2 or 3 times and the whole band seemed to go through the motions for me.I was also in seats high up in the arena and the crowd was just sterile,including the company i was in that night ie (mates who werenae regular giggers and more or less sat on their hands = Dode Fox type).I also went to T in the Park one year and was really looking forward to seeing Primal Scream and they proceeded to come on stage and play in it's entirety their new album and nothing else (Xtrmntr),which i subsequently liked actually,but at the time i was pished and just wanted tae hear Screamadelica and other older stuff.Think they turned off half the crowd as it hadn't been released,no-one had heard it,and it's a heavy album which requires a few listens.

Best venue - For atmosphere = Barrowlands,nowhere comes even close.Low roof and all standing.The noise just reverberates round the place.It's like The Shed of music venues.The aforementioned 13th Note basement is also a decent venue.That is said fae a playing point of view.Fill that place up with even 30/40 folk and turn your amps up and what a gig you've got on your hands.

Worst venue - Viewing = The SECC,the accoustics are just ah wrong.It's like an airfield hangar.Only really loud bands like The Who can fill the room with the sufficient levels of WOW.Playing wise = Renfrew Ferry,Glasgow.The sound men were extremely rude and unhelpful.Showed us mere pleb musicians not an ounce of respect.No soundcheck,no time,and we don't care where you leave your instruments it's 'nothing to do with us'.Fucking wankers.

Underated Venue - The Garage,Glasgow.Saw CAST there a long long time ago (2000 or thereabouts) and the sound was great in the place.Cause it's a fairly big dancing there was also easy access to toilets and the long bar at the end bottom of the 'dancefloor'.Never been since for a gig right enough.

I went to seen them at the SECC the same night as the MYPA game, the gig was equally disappointing. They guy never seemed interested and the band were the same as you describle - going through the motions. Can't believe that was '05, fuck me.

I remember that KoL gig. Place felt half empty as well. Can't believe it was over 9 years ago now.

Think I may have seen that Primal Scream one at TITP as well, were Oasis on after and Gomez had just been on?

Best ones for me have been:-
OCS - Garage early 00's
Happy Mondays - O2 or Carling Academy as it was at the time '07 or '08
Prodigy - TITP '05

Venue wise Barrowlands can make an normally avergae gig good. But I do quite like the O2 Academy, but is a bitch for getting a drink and going to the bog.

first ane was Cast in the Caird hall. Radiohead on the OK Computer tour was the very next week which righted a very seriously wrong first gig and it's probably still one of my favourites

along with The Beta Band on the Hot Shots 2 tour at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange,The White Stripes at the SECC in 2004 ,Depeche Mode Playing the Angel MEN Arena ,Paul Simon at Edinburgh castle in 2000 i think -was class and Morrissey Perth City Hall You are the Quarry Tour.

i wish i went to see Bjork on the Post tour at the Caird hall though.

was also at that white stripes gig above ....seggyboy was the biggest,drunkest pain in the arse EVER that night...i had to drive tae...got my own back though

Favourite gigs over the years...Oasis at murryfield late 90s...30 seater fae the stobie, great day... the who in the secc late 90s and manchester 96...the strokes in the barras, interpol in the carling academy....the 6 the rakes gigs i've been to, every single one superb, maximo park at king tuts just as their first album broke and the first two kings of leon gigs we went to when the masses never got them...

do not like the weeg for a lot of reasons but you've got to take your hat off to them for music venues...best in the uk imho

The Who in Manchester playing Quadrophenia live was the best but also my most emotional gig due to the fact i was advised against sourcing a fish tailed mod parker from someone i know beforehand, arrived in Manchester by car, passed Coronation Street and Strangeways then hit the nearest boozer for a Bod this is when it donned on me i should have made the effort as every way you looked it was a see of green jackets like a scene from Brighton beach minus the Boon Brigade. On arrival at the MEN arena a big red London double decker pulled up an every single man and woman had a parka on. The closest thing to this I've ever experienced was the 2010 Cup final where everyone bar the person that advised me that day on what to wear wore tangerine. To this day that day and gig remains my best for the all round experience and the last time i listen to someone with a strawberry nose on what to wear

that murrayfield oasis was unreal what a day out everybody lying about on the grass outside before it getting smashed lol mind coming home and tony jumped into the drivers seat and drove the bus faf

Yeah that one-people getting carted out and that -mental.

Was also at Oasis gig at Murrayfield too -me and that hunted fella had a week-end bender, Oasis Saturday United v Celtic Sunday (Martin ONeill's first game-lost 2-1 McCracken) -had work on the Monday, turned up steaming - got put in the back of a van to sleep it off.

Was also at an early Kings of Leon gig after first album before 2nd ,certainly before they selt oot wi that Sex on Fire shite.
