I think Willie Petigrew deserves a mention. Can remember him scoring with a brilliant diving header at Tannadice but cannot remember who against ( Morton comes to mind but I could be wrong as I was young at the time ) .
Maybe someone can help with this?

Duncan Hutchison 20 yarder against can't remember it's a wee while ago.

I’ll throw in Fergie’s goal v Hearts from 45yards.
Loved Iain Ferguson as a kid.

1) Davie Dodds - Far too young to have seen him play!
2) Paul Sturrock - Too young to see him also, but from videos - his goal against Man Utd stands out for me. The occasion, the opposition and the sheer perfection of the assist.
3) Kevin Gallacher - Got to be the one at home against Barca
4) Duncan Ferguson - Cant really remember seeing any of his goals. Did he no score a belter of a header v. Celtic in our last win at Parkhead ?
5) Craig Brewster - Can only be one here. 21st May 1994.
6) Kjell Olofsson - Half Volley away to the Dees. Kjell, In my opinion, is the best striker I've seen at Tannadice and he scored a few great goals for us. A clip of a few at this link...
7) Billy Dodds - A wee chip into the shed end v. Celtic.
8) Jon Daly - Header away to Celtic in Cup SF. To this day, the best headed goal I've seen live. Seemed to hang in the air for 10 seconds before it hit the net.
9) David Goodwillie - 60mins and 40 seconds in against Ross County, Hampden 15th May 2010. Up to then, I always felt something could go wrong but as soon as this went in it just felt like a weight had been lifted and I was able to enjoy the next 30 minutes a bit better.
10) Johnny Russell - His 2nd at home v. Dundee. This goal doesn't get the credit it deserves outwith the Utd support when people talk about the best goals in the SPL. An absolute screamer and sheer frothing behind the goal from that lot was a joy to behold. His goal v. Sevco deserves a mention for the GIRFUY alone.
11) Nadir Ciftci - Really can't pick one between
Scottish Cup Semi Final v. Sevco, Neutral Venue. Another game where nerves were kicking in and it felt like we could slip up and the moment he got the ball under control the celebrations started.
League Cup Semi Final v. Aberdeen, Hampden. I think we would have all been content with the game going to Extra Time and when Nads glanced the header, it was almost slow motion as the dons keeper flapped like an otter and missed it completely. Utter chaos in the stand and it was great getting it right up the sheep who had been giving it big licks early doors but drowned out by a very vocal Utd support that day.

I think you might be right re Morton at home.

Aye, a great striker, so sharp in the box, but there was a great goal from a huge distance.
For Tek's strikers:
1) Davie Dodds: equaliser v Celtic in 1983. The point was invaluable in winning the league: a really difficult looped ball into the box in a gale which Doddsy stretched to edge beyond the keeper.
2) Paul Sturrock: should be the LC Final goal in 1981, but as it was disallowed, so as a favourite, his first of two against Rangers in a 3-1 win in '83. We'd chased for a winner for a long period before the goal, nothing special about the execution but so important.
3) Kevin Gallacher: his final goal for United in 1989, winner at Parkhead. Winning away to Celtic used to happen often in those days
4) Duncan Ferguson: winner at Parkehed, a header on half time to give us our last victory (!) at Parkhead.... in 1992!
5) Craig Brewster: Cup Final '94.
6) Kjell Olofsson: second goal at Easter Road in 1998, secured safety, cannae find video right now but think he juggled it a bit on his head, and headed home.
7) Billy Dodds: Late penalty sealing a fightback v Aberdeen at home, in his second spell in 2004.
8) Jon Daly: his first goal for United, v Celtic in injury time to secure a draw. Shot on the turn from outside of the box.
9) David Goodwillie: the winner at Ibrox, April 2011.
10) Johnny Russell: v Dundee, 2012.
11) Nadir Ciftci: the goal at Ibrox in 2014.
Edited as I went and looked at a video of Paul Sturrock's goal mentioned. It wasn't an equaliser, but ultimately a winning goal. He'd struck the bar with an outrageous shot just shortly before scoring that second goal for us.

1) Davie Dodds - Was just a wee bit before my time but from watching all the old Utd games I will opt for his goal against Roma in the European Cup Semi Final 1st leg. Just a classic instinctive, poachers finish.
2) Paul Sturrock - I kinda missed Luggy when he was at the very peak of his powers at Utd. When I started watching us his career was starting to wind down (albeit there were still some magical moments and displays like in the Nou Camp in '87). I will opt for his last ever goal for Utd. Poignantly it was at Tannadice and against Dundee (a team he had tormented over the years). A great (and brave) lob over Bobby Geddes.
3) Kevin Gallacher - Despite the match breaking my young 8 year old heart in two I will have to opt for Gallacher's magnificent finish in the '88 Scottish Cup Final. The pace to outstrip Roy Aitken and the accuracy and power of the finish past Andrews. A goal of real quality.
4) Duncan Ferguson - Loved this towering header against Celtic to make it 3-3. (15.45 mins in).
5) Craig Brewster - His chest and volley against Motherwell in the 2-2 Scottish Cup game in '94. A fucking tremendous finish.
6) Kjell Olofsson - His winner at Ibrox in a 1-0 away win in March '99. A tremendous team goal with great passing and Olofsson's great finish the icing on the cake. 11.15 in.
7) Billy Dodds - His Derby goal against Dundee on Jan 2nd '99. Great cross from Olofsson and superb control and finish on the turn from Doddsy (and on his left foot).5.20 mins in.
8) Jon Daly - His looping header against Celtic at Hampden to make it 3-3. 6.08 mins in.
9) David Goodwillie - Has to be that goal at Hampden.3.49 in.
10) Johnny Russell - His thunderous left footed goal against Dundee. One of the best Dundee United goals ever scored. 2.30 in.
11) Nadir Ciftci - The goal at Ibrox against the Rangers where he celebrated before he even scored. 7.53 in

I actually feel Iain Ferguson should have been on my original list upon reflection.
Fantastic Striker.
So here is my favourite Fergie goal. The winner at Dens in the seemingly never ending sequence of matches versus Aberdeen. 17.10 in.
Big Mixu deserves a tip of the hat too. My favourite Mixu goal is against Aberdeen too. Another Scottish Cup 2nd replay, but the season after the Fergie goal. What a finish by the big man. Loved him as a kid.

1) Davie Dodds - before my time
2) Paul Sturrock - before my time
3) Kevin Gallacher - 1988 cup final goal
4) Duncan Ferguson - 1991 scottish cup semi final at east end park against st johnstone, great finish
5) Craig Brewster - has to be up final, 2 against motherwell at tannadice in cup run were also brilliant
6) Kjell Olofsson - tied between a great team goal at parkhead to earn us a rare point, and a top corner finish for a vital win at ibrox during a relagation battle. brilliant player for us.
7) Billy Dodds - weirdly, none of his goals stand out for me. maybe the way he left us, and how bad we were afterwards, has blocked them out
8) Jon Daly - very good team goal against motherwell in cup at tannadice
9) David Goodwillie - cup final goal
10) Johnny Russell - header at ibrox in 3-2 win
11) Nadir Ciftci - ibrox

Shows you how fortunate we have been over the years, what a list of strikers with some top class ones not on the list.
Oloffson - the game at Easter Road when we were surrounded by em jaggin inbred fucks, he was a class above and his two goals ensured we stayed up.
Ferguson-- boxing day 92 for me, but a special mention for a Derby match in 93 I think we he bulleted a header vs the Dee at the Shed end. Finished 1 nil from memory.
Goody- cup final obv but remember that Overhead kick vs Mwell.

Paddy Connolly, Mixu and Darren Jackson were all really good strikers for us.

1-4 I was too young.
5) Although I was very young It’s obviously Hampden v Oldco.
6) primary 3 the time but remember when we beat aberdeen away 4-0 and he scored then.
7) one of my first fav United players. The goal that stands out for me Is on his 2nd debut he scored a header v Killie at new year or his pen v Aberdeen In the last minute.
8) either his header v Hearts away or Celtic at home before Dods got the late winner.
9) His Hampden chip. Loved every goal he scored.
10) Loved him demolishing Newco and The Derry at Tannadice. Too tough to pick.
11) loved him demolishing the derry at Tanny before biting one of them.
