Was that not a wee bit out of the blue yesterday, the HL declaring the league is over for this season?
I would have thought they weren't allowed to do that on their own?
Begs the question though what will the Lowland League & indeed the SPFL now be thinking about?
I'm pretty certain in the fullness of time they will be following suit & the HL will rightly receive credit for their pioneer approach.
The HL was maybe able to declare Brora as champions on account of these placings at the top of the league. It's a 32 games league & the figures in brackets are max points attainable. Would the Lowland League be as brave? Don't know cos current champions in waiting Kelty Hearts do not have such a strong hand.
BRORA p 26 pts 72 (90)
INVERURIE p 28 pts 59 (71)
FRASERBURGH p 23 pts 55 (82)
I've a hunch both them & Kelty will join the SPFL & Brechin will stay in but what to do with 44 clubs? Would a 14-10-10-10 set-up keep most clubs happy?

League reconstruction needs an 11-1 majority in the Premiership, 75% in the Championship and an overall majority in League One and Two. Given the selfishness and shortsightedness of Scottish clubs, I can’t see that happening, regardless of it being the ideal scenario. Too many teams like St. Johnstone and Hamilton are shit-scared if losing one home gate to the cheeks, which for me, begs the question, if your survival is predicated on the basis of one game, should you really be operating at a professional level?
Obviously the preference is to play out the season, which there is already increased talk of doing, down south anyway, behind closed doors. If this is impossible though, then I believe that the authorities view “Null and Void” as the nuclear option because of the potential ramifications with broadcasters, sponsors and fans, meaning they’ll call the league’s as they stand.
Should this be the case, then I’d say it’s the right decision, teams like ourselves, Celtic and Cove Rangers should be rewarded for our efforts this season, and shouldn’t be punished in order to save clubs like Hearts and Partick Thistle who, up until now, have had terrible seasons and have been the worst teams in their respective leagues

Tek brought this up yesterday, with the important point that the SFA must have sanctioned this.
The SPFL operate semi-independently, but all football is played under the auspices of the SFA.
For the record, I'm not comfortable with the decision to award Brora the title, as they can theoretically be caught by the four teams directly below them. But it would be very odd if one league administered and registered by the SFA was given permission to go ahead with this decision, while other leagues were resolved on a different basis.
Maybe the Brora settlement could be reversed in coming days, to add to the clusterfuck which the Scottish authorities oversee. It wouldn't surprise me.
