If there was a 'real' Labour Party most folk up here would probably vote for them.

In a nutshell, unfortunately, in the meantime, some think new labour are old labour and give them loyalty they don't deserve.

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

S.N.P all the way for me and has been since my 1st vote, there has been absolutely no reason for me to change ever since and depending on the policy of the time a political party is certainly one thing in life you can change without any regret as needs must first. Deeper into my reason not to change is the fact the other so called Scottish Conservatives, Scottish Labour and the Scottish Lib Dems continue to get set up and made a fool of by their English masters imo. The only other party i would consider at the moment would be the Scottish Socialists but they are well behind in my personal poll for what it's worth.

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

Scottish Labour also continuing to use fear as a reason to vote for them, ie vote for us or Tories etc will get in. They still don't get that the public don't rate Labour as a viable alternative to the Tories anymore. Lazy politics and still a lack of respect for the Scottish voter.

Predicts the Salmond will become UK Deputy Prime Minister with Labour in a hung Parliament.

I can't see it myself not that the SNP won't be kingmakers, I think they will be but I can't see Labour coming first.

It also predicts UKIP won't win any MPs, which I do approve of.

I think the SNP will win 20 odd seats. Won't be anywhere near 45 seats

My guess is more than 35 but less than 40.

These polls cannot be right.

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

I like the fact that the SNP have got the London establishment and media running scared and I've been impressed by a number of things they've saying. Still stand by what I said at the start of this thread about their record in Government. Not sure who I'm voting for. Mike Weir is a shoe-in for the SNP in Angus anyway. Probably vote for the SSP or Trade Union and Socialist Coalition as a protest against everyone. Or draw a cock on the ballot paper.

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

I really liked the TUSC election broadcast on Friday. Pretty much agreed with everything they said word for word. I'll either vote for then as a token or vote SNP.

Have been very impressed with Sturgeon

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

Going to be a large number of gains for SNP anyway, not sure it will be above 50 but got to think what it is currently. We need a strong Scottish voice in WM, not the half hearted toe the party line "We are Scottish.....Labour,tory etc". Aye right!

Its certainly getting up them in WM, so something is working/happening.

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

Def voting snp, they may have a chance of ousting lib dems in NE Fife this time.

I still wish the labour party existed though or would be voting for them, this tory copycat party we have using the labour name does my head in.

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

To get Labour out of a seat/area they've dominated for years (they'd vote for a shite with a red rosette in Falkirk), it'll be SNP for me, although I'm not a great fan of the party.

In fact, Eric Joyce is the present MP here, so they did vote for a shite with a red rosette.

The SNP guy who's standing here, John McNally, is a decent local guy who works as a barber. I expect him to support cuts to the defence budget.

It's a secret ballot, so who I vote for is between me and my conscience!

Re: General Election May 2015 - Who you voting for ?

SNP to me represent the best way to use my vote and hopefully will have an influence in Westminster speaking up for Scotland. Labour have not done this for years and it is why, amongst other things, their supporters are deserting them in their droves and why they no longer deserve the Scottish vote. The status quo are already not liking the possibility of this and are shitting their pants again, the first time it looks like the tables could turn and that a competent party may have an influence over the soggy biscuit Etonian boys and they are already resorting to dirty underhand tactics. Like others, I don't think SNP will win as much seats as predicted but I look forward to Labour, Lib Dems and Tories getting a pasting and hope UKIP don't get a look in up here.

I don't think UKIP will get many seats down south either tbh. They won't get more than 3 in the whole of the UK IMO

Agreed.
Farage will win his seat and the two incumbents will retain theirs (though the ex-Tory Douglas Carswell is seemingly wanting to leave UKIP already after the HIV comments).  They might sneak another one at best and come 2nd or 3rd (mostly) in a lot of other seats in England.  Good old FPTP will scupper them.

Would generally vote for the most left wing option to reflect my beliefs, i.e. SSP, but will probably vote tactically for the first time i.e. SNP.

Still sticking with this under the present electoral system, but if we had PR it would be:-

SSP
TUSC
SNP
Spoiled ballot paper for first time in 40 years.
