Would anyone be all right with it if we got say 3-4 million and went and got Nisbet now?
We know Shankland’s gone by the summer anyway, is it smart to get ahead of the competition and get his obvious replacement in place now?
Yes, but not sure if Dunfermline would sell just now. Same boat as us really. Wouldn’t want to lose their best scorer without being able to replace.
I can’t wait until this window is shut.

No. I would keep Shankland as he will score a further 15 goals in this division. He will then be a premier league player with an even bigger goal tally and this will increase his value. In the summer, we could start a bidding war between clubs down south giving us more time to bring in a couple of strikers that will eventually replace him. Dunfermline won't sell Nisbet this window unless they get £1 million plus. Dunfermline are hoping he can help them to the playoffs.
Tony Asghar is currently looking at players in Belgium and Holland, I'm sure him and Robbie have a list of players they could bring in to improve the squad.
We have more than enough to see the league out but in the summer we need:
-An experienced keeper as back up to Benji
-2 Centre halves of really good quality, Keep Watson, Connolly and Reynolds as back up
-Left back and Right Back so we have competition for both wing back places.
-Creative player who can open defences or produce moments of magic
-2 wingers, McMullan and Sporle will be good back up, Chalmers needs another year out on loan.
-2 Strikers as Shankland could be away in the summer, Clark isn't always fit and Can't rely heavily on Louis to get us through games where Shankland and Clark are out injured/suspended etc.
Centre midfield I'm okay with Butcher and Powers will win many battles, Harkes will hopefully make the step up, King is a good player, needs a run of games, Glass has great potential.

5 centre halves is way to much, Watson’s gone imo, do need two new ones though, even 4 with 2 new and I think we could live without either Connolly or Reynolds and just have 3 but can’t see either of them two leaving

So basically a new team? Unlikely...

From The Courier
Dundee United manager Robbie Neilson joked that he would have preferred Lawrence Shankland’s wonder goal to wait until after the January transfer window had closed.
The Tangerines put up a real battle over two intense ties against Premiership side Hibs, eventually losing 4-2 in the William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round replay at Easter Road last night.
It was an extra special strike from Shankland that gave Neilson’s men the lead after just 11 minutes.
Scott Allan’s penalty levelled the match by the break then Christian Doidge made it 2-1 to the hosts before United sub Adrian Sporle equalised just a minute after coming on.
Doidge then made sure for Hibs with another couple of goals, bagging himself a hat-trick.
However, it was Shankland’s strike – played out before the usual audience of scouts – that will live longest in the memory.
Neilson joked: “I would have preferred if he had saved that until just after January, when the window is shut! “He showed his quality even though he can still improve.”
Neilson, who quipped pre-match that he would be camping outside his striker’s house to stop any potential buyer reaching him, added: “We don’t have to sell any players.“We are financially stable.“Lawrence is a major part of what we are doing here.“He will continue to be a part of that and we will reassess where we are in the summer.”
Neilson was satisfied with his players over what were two hugely entertaining cup clashes against the Hibees.“I was really pleased with the workrate and effort,” he said.“We spoke briefly before the game about the number of fans we were bringing down, at a tough time of the year and them not having been paid since Christmas.“We needed to repay them with a good performance and I think we did that.“However, if we do get up then we want to be coming here and winning, not just being pleased with a performance.”

Alan Forrest apparently agreed move to Livi on a pre contract. Good move for Livi. Will be interesting to see how he does in the Prem. Also puts that one to bed for us.

Waterford are looking to do a deal for Dundee United striker Matty Smith.
The 22-year-old has been offered a chance to join the Irish side on loan for the rest of the season.
Dundalk are closing in on a loan deal for Terrors midfielder Cammy Smith.

They just signed Ali Coote also.

Best of luck to him. Decent players, just not progressed enough and needs game time at 22 to kick on with his career.

What do we all think for tomorrow then?
1in for me left midfield/winger and M Smith, C Smith both leaving.
But I would be happy with the current squad to get us up.

I think we definitely need a winger and potentially a loan striker maybe, if the smiths leave
However I’ve nobody comes in wouldn’t put me up nor down

Heard a wee whisper tonight that Celtic might go for Siegrest. Not sure if now or pre-contract.
This came from a Celtic fan btw, not our end.
So quite possibly bollocks.

He signed a new deal a few months back so it's not a pre-contract.
Celtic fans are normally full of shite.

Yeah, probably.
I do know Craig Gordon has asked to be let go to get games. But would Benji go there to be No.3?
I doubt it tbh.

Curtis Main out of favour at Aberdeen and is being allowed to leave, likely on loan.
I’d have him here, extra body up front.

Signed a 3 year deal last summer so would expect a loan. Has just come back from injury so I wouldnt be handing out any permanent deals to the boy unless he proves his fitness between now and the summer.
When fit though, what an addition he'd be for our last 14 games!
