We should be looking to pump them similar to what we did the last time out at Tannadice. I doubt it will be as easy as it was on that day but here's hoping.

Expect the manager to have one eye on Tuesday night and rightly so, Morton are fucking horrific. Aiden Nesbitt is their best player which says a lot.

That would be my team too

Morton have slightly improved over the last month or so compared to how bad they were when we pumped them at Tannadice last time.  Still need to be looking to beat them by a few goals though, keep the foot down.

We should definitely be thinking about Tuesday imo.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Cannae see Connolly stepping out the starting line up, as he's hardly put a foot wrong since his return. Reynolds, when moved to the centre after Watson was subbied at Firhill, was badly at fault in the lead up to Thistle's goal too. I'd be amazed if Reynolds was back in for Connolly.

Up front, Pawlett, McMullan and Sow all need game time, and that's where the dilemma must be for Robbie. Glass and Appere deserve starts for me, and Shankland is bound to play, leaving one space. If Pawlett is deemed fit, I think he'll get the nod.

Midfield? Certainly Butcher, and probably Powers to up his fitness, with Harkes on the bench.

I’d definitely have an eye on Tuesday.

       ..............Seigrist............
Smith Reynolds Connolly Robson
McMullan Harkes Powers Sporle
           Shankland Appere

Deniz
Watson
Freeman
Glass
Butcher
Pawlett
Sow

I’d want to be in a good position around the hour to get a couple of them subbed off.

It was actually within 5 minutes they gifted us 2 goals & gifts they were too with Sir Lawrence lying handy on both occasions. In December we went thro there & I wouldn't say we were lucky but we were definitely relieved to win 2-1 on a freezing cold & very windy night when playing good football was difficult. So expect a harder game on Saturday & nothing less than a very good performance will be necessary for another 3 magic points.

You see I’m old and time passes quickly when you’re older hence I thought it was 10 minutes.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Hopefully (fingers crossed) another routine win for us. I would be tempted to make a few changes and certainly give sow etc game time in the second half if we are comfortable. Would also like to see Freeman given a chance to show what hes about.

benji

smith watson freeman robson  (or reynolds and freeman lb)

power butch

mcmullan  pawlett appere

shankland.

would bring on harkes, sow and glass for butch, shankland and pawlett.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Another wee reason Reynolds may not start: we're hoping to have two matches on Alloa's plastic (8th and 14th Feb) soon, and perhaps Mark Reynolds would miss them. It might be wise to keep the defence settled if possible.

Cannae see Freeman being used in central defence, Arab93, he's mainly a right back who can cover in the opposite full back position.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

There will be a minutes applause on the 51st minute tomorrow for a utd fan who passed away. I am sure a few of the posters on here will have known him or recognise Steven from games.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Steven was about my age, had a few mutual mates and was in his company now and again when we were younger.  Always a good lad to have a beer and natter with in the pub.  Sad to see him pass - still a young man (in my eyes at least!).  He saw the good days as an Arab and even although we've been mince for a few years at least he saw us heading in the right direction again.  Won't be there tomorrow, but will be thinking of him at the back of 4 and hope he gets a right good round of applause.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Big Stevie liked his fags a drink, and was a big United fan. Even after his diagnosis he kept a good humour about him, and was always rushing to be first off the bus to get to the pub: sometimes he'd spend the afternoon there rather than the match!

His send off will be busy, and I'd like to think United might have a good performance in store for him tomorrow.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Half Time -

Utd 0 Morton 1

Oh dear.

Feels like we've thrown out lot in with that starting XI today. And it isn't working so far.

Only really McMullan can come on and give us impetus.

Just shows how light we are if we get just a couple of injuries.

We need a player or two in next week.

Our best centre half is out of contract in the summer. Our worst is contracted until 2022. Fs
