Sam Wardrop has joined Dumbarton on loan until the end of the season

Feel we are really needing one more in. Winger/number 10 ideally.

Left Winger for me. Other than that I think we’re good.

We need a forward.
Said before Shankland get's injured who we putting up front going into the rest of the season and big games like Dens away?
Sow? Not for me.
Louis? Just a kid and early into his development to expect him to lead the line on his own.
Wee reminder we aint over the line yet and have achieved nothing.
I hope Utd don't just want to do enough to 'get by'.
I want us to continue to blitz this league and win it in style.

I'd rather we only picked up players for next season...if none are available, take nobody.
The league is done imo.

No harm in taking a chance on a couple of to the end of the season contracts to see if a player fits in and is good enough. Cover up front and wide is certainly thin on the ground. We seem to be moving a few on too so feels as if there is more action before the month is out.

Agree we need a striker. If Shankland gets sold or injured and we are relying on Appere to be our main striker, it will be like when Billy Dodds left and Steven Thompson became first choice, just way too much pressure too early in his career and it took him years to recover.

Always love a signing but would be quite happy if we don’t sign anyone in this window. We have enough to see out this amazingly strong position, even if a big offer is accepted for Shankland. The management team are already planning for the top flight with Stanton, Wardrop etc moving on. Boys available in Jan aren’t always the kind of signings you build your team around.
They’ll be planning correctly for the summer and looking at proper summer signings once our 2020/21 league is known.
Not had this much faith in a collective management team in a long while

I find it mad frankly that folk would be against us signing more players.
Our squad is really thin on the ground and if just one or two players were to get injured in certain areas, then we are really struggling.

Don't think anyone is against it Tek. It's more that we are in a strong position, and can afford to be more careful and choosy than might otherwise have been the case.
It's great to make a new signing, but balance that against adding to the overall wage bill which has been quite a weight this season in order to get promoted. There are positions that need strengthened and covered, but better to be in a relaxed state of mind when doing that than desperate.
Last January we were craving signings, and some were a success, some not. We are now aiming for players who can do a job at a higher level, consequently there will be even less of this type available in mid season.

Any signings now have to be made for next seasons campaign. No way should we be making any more for the sake of it signings. This squad is more than capable of getting us over the line.

Agree but also would like a fast pacy winger that can beat a man and cross a decent ball.
It’s amazing how quickly things can change and all of a sudden you have 3 or 4 vital players all out with injury/suspension.

Nobody makes signings for the sake of it. You make signings to cover positions and possibly strengthen. There is nothing wrong in signing someone on a 6 month contract as it gives the player and club time to see if it’s a good fit. I believe Frear is available again and I would say that he comes into that category.

We can get better players in now than we could last January though Pat.
We are suddenly an attractive proposition.
Come here and get games and you have the chance to collect a winners medal. Not many players actually win one in their career. The vast majority don't.
You also have the chance to put yourself in the shop window. Be it to us or elsewhere.
I am relaxed about the rest of the season btw. Even if we had a monumental collapse we have done enough to get over the line.
But i for one want us to be as dominant in the second half of the season and continue to blitz the league.
I think the fans deserve that after the past few years.
We are also of course trying to build momentum for next season. Losing form would not only be frustrating but potentially harmful going into next season.

This is my point. There is no signing out there that is guaranteed to be perfect for us next season. We seem to have the opportunity to bring in a couple of short terms and give them a chance to prove worthy of a longer contract. In a January window that is as likely to fail as succeed, but it also gives us some cover that looks a requirement. Also I don't think Wardrop going out on loan is necessarily the end of his United career. He needs games and he's unlikely to get them at Tannadice.

Not against us signing players, I’m against us signing players we don’t need that’ll block our promising youngsters getting valuable game time.
If we can get 1 or 2 in that are signed with the Premiership in mind then by all means. Other than that though, we’ve put ourselves in a position where it’s not necessary.

I’ve got a horrible feeling Shankland won’t be here come Saturday.

So do i.
I know we are selling club and the Ogren's want to make money from Utd but i will be completely gutted if we sell him now.
It will still hurt in the Summer but at least it gives us weeks and not hours to find a suitable replacement.

We can't and must not repeat the failures of the past, we as a club are finally starting to gain momentum and move forward as one.
We sell and its a massive set back, we will probably still have enough to get over the line but like many older Arabs will remember the free fall when we sold Billy Dodds a player we over relied on for goals.
Keep him until the summer and he will go with blessing of all United fans.

Also got a horrible feeling about this, it’s like united have changed there tune the last week, start of window he 100% wasn’t going and now neilson is taking about acceptable bids, what I can see happening say he does go to a premier league team, maybe loaned back till end of season??
If he does leave however me must go for nesbit

I can understand why everyone is getting a bit jittery at this stage of the transfer window. But for me, he is going nowhere and we'll be singing his name on Saturday and for the rest of the season.
Sir Lawrence loves the Shed.

This for me. He will be away in the summer imo.

Would anyone be all right with it if we got say 3-4 million and went and got Nisbet now?
We know Shankland’s gone by the summer anyway, is it smart to get ahead of the competition and get his obvious replacement in place now?
