Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (2012)
Old School Hip-Hop vibe (with a modern sounding production). Fucking great album.
Big influences on the album are from Outkast, Dr.Dre, Mobb Deep and Nas. With outstanding lyrics and flow from the man himself, Kendrick Lamar.

Of a very different genre, Revolutionary Suicide by Julian Cope from 2013.
Cope comes across as a deranged genius once more. Psychedelic folk rock is how I'd describe it if I had to. Storytelling with synthesizer and big base drum. Not as heavy as many of his other works, more understated grandeur. I can write some pish.

Must admit never heard of them! Will give them a listen at some point.
