Ex players from 2015-16 season.

Some of these guys are playing at a decent level.

Besides Spittal, McKay and Morris (Ross County), Erskine (Livi) and Souttar (Hertz) playing in the level above us, I like to have a wee look to see how the foreign guys are doing.

Mario Bilate is in the Netherlands, playing for RKC Waalwijk (8 games this season, but bottom of the league, the top league mind you).

Henri Anier has been around a bit since leaving United following relegation, in which he played for Hibs for part of the season (!): but he's just signed a contract to play in Korea in 2020, second level.

Darko Bodul, after a decent period of his career in Russia, is in Belarusia, 17 games, 8 goals, 4 assists for a top league side.

After being first choice with Metz last season in Ligue 1, E. Kawishima now at Strasbourg. But don't think he's played yet.

Riku Riski plays for European participants HJK Helsinki, and has scored 20 goals in 63 appearances as a winger for them, including goals in Europe.

Simon Murray, of course, is in South Africa with Bidvest Wits, where he's a bit of a cult hero (and of course, he's Scottish), and Ryan McGowan is back home at Sydney FC.

That's 12 players there, fling in another Scot, Scott Fraser at Burton, with Scozzie Harry Souttar at the same level with Fleetwood Town.

The managers didn't really make proper use of these players.

Not one of them would get in our team today, at their peak or even now.

Re: Ex players from 2015-16 season.

Actually, Morris when fit would get a game, Souttar never could (and still cant) defend worth a fuck.

If an excellent defender like Levien cannot coach you into being a good defender you're not a good defender.

The level some of them are playing at suggests the problem may have been more a management one...

Your go to response seems to be "what a lot of shite" for something you don't agree with, Souttar is a very poor defender, it doesn't take Franco Baresi to see that, I know for a fact that a certain legendary centre half who played for United never rated Souttar either so if it's a good enough opinion for someone with 600+ appearances at the highest level for United then it's good enough for me.

Fraser was a fanny dancer, played when he felt like it, United do not miss his one in ten good performance ratio.

7 points clear, game in hand.  Let’s argue about boys who have been away for years.

Disagree just because he tried to do something different from normal no nonsense defenders doesn’t mean he’s shite, will no doubts about it be in Scotland squad when back fit and you’ll see a up turn in hearts results 👍🏼

Fraser was excellent when played in 10, and burton now getting best out him and probably won’t be there much longer

Do u sit in George Fox by anychance 😄

Re: Ex players from 2015-16 season.

John Souttar was/is a waster. As is Scott Fraser. Wouldn’t want either back.

He tried to do something different and was caught out time and time again, he was/is poor in the air and his positioning is and has always been suspect, if you watch Hearts games he is still being dragged all over the place leaving his position open and Hearts often lose goals because of him.

He's is deemed not good enough to be a Scotland regular CH (by the national team managers) in a period that probably has the poorest choices of centre halfs in history.

I know less of Scott Fraser nowadays as the basement leagues of England is not appealing to me, I've heard he scores the occasional free kick.

I sat in the East stand when Souttar was at Tannadice, I now mostly sit in the George Fox FYI.
