The 5th game of the tournament witnessed victory recorded for 'Match 1' which was Dundee Utd 4 v 0 St.Mirren 26/10/13. A match that was dominated by a spell binding display from the then 17 year old Ryan Gauld in midfield.

Going for match 1, purely for the ultimate significance over mat h 2

Three unbelievable games to kick off the poll.
My vote goes to Number 1 but only by the finest of margins.
The first ever time I sat upstairs in the GF and it was truly one of the greatest nights I’ve ever had supporting United. That game has been made even sweeter by events that followed it. I still absolutely despite that Rangers and the Rangers that have claimed their position in the league.

Match one. Nearly resulted in a kicking in a Glasgow pub but it was well worth it.

Has to be match 1. The feeling when that goal went in was just sensational.

Toughest decision yet.
I loved all of these matches for various reasons.
'Match 4' versus Celtic at Hampden is the only defeat Utd suffer to feature in the 64 matches of this tournament. But I felt it deserved to feature because it was a magnificent performance by DUFC at Hampden versus one of the Old Firm (maybe even the best). We lost a really slack goal to them in just the 3rd or 4th minute, not closing down and giving Commons a clear site at goal to have a pop.
So we in essence started the game 1-0 down. We could have capitulated. But we instead went 'toe to toe' with Celtic and gave them a Hell of a game. The counter attacking goal that featured Daly to GMS to Gauld and back to GMS before he bends it into the corner. Fuck me....sensational football. Utterly brilliant. As was Jon Daly's precision header in off the post for our 3rd. If his header that crashed off the junction of bar/post in Extra Time had put us 4-3 up I am in no doubt we would have won that game. As it was we were robbed imo. Commons 2nd he clearly handles the ball into our net.
This was a performance without the services of our best player remember (Johnny Russell). The 9,000 UTD supporters that day were also magnificent in both their numbers and voice (remember it was a Sunday lunchtime k.o). The limbs at our 3rd were fucking unreal. Was a great day out despite the result. Earliest I've started drinking for a Utd away match. Sparked a can at 9am at my mates who i went to the game with.
'Match 3' the 2-1 home defeat of Rangers (Oldco) I watched in a (near empty) pub in East Kilbride town centre. Was a Saturday lunchtime kick-off and I watched it with a Utd supporting mate from 5 minutes down the road (same guy who i sparked a can at 9am in his house above). There were only 2 other individuals watching the match together (Huns) and they started talking rather loudly about how much they fucking hated Utd and Stephen Thompson (ok I can give them that one in hindsight), knowing full well me and my mate were (quietly) supporting Utd. Now i'm not a confrontational type of guy but these two clowns were clearly trying to get a rise out us so I said to my mate 'if we score again let these cunts know all about'.
Daly scores the 2nd and I admit I fucking roared the pub down. OTT wise in regards to the significance of the match. But it must have had the desired effect as the two greeting faced cunts just mumped and moaned a bit for 5 or 10 more minutes and then fucked off. This was around the time that I noticed Huns starting to manifest a real hatred towards our club. I haven't watched many games in pubs since about that time. Ironically the only other time I nearly got into a fight in a pub watching Utd was in the same establishment, but this time was against Celtic. Neither of these cunts like things going against them. Ever.
'Match 1' I watched at my mates flat (a Hun), with another mate (a massive Tim). Amazing feeling to be able to get it right fucking up both of them (this was also the night St.Mirren fucked Celtic 4-0 under Tony Mowbray).
Joe Rice's commentary in that clip just superb. That moment when the ball broke off of David Roberson and rebounded into the net will always live with me. Like a lot of the BIG games in this tournament i let out what can only be described as a 'Primal Roar'. The feeling that Houtie and this team could win the Cup was starting to ridiculously enter the minds of even the most pessemistic of Arab minds after this result i.e (mines).
My vote for this one goes to 'Match 2' Dundee Utd 6 v 2 Dundee (30/8/19) though it now looks fruitless.
Just a fucking amazing night, that completely exceeded my expectations of both result and performance.
Though we are still a good bit away from the 'finished article' in regards us being back to being a regular Top 6 club in Scottish Football, this night definitely felt like we were back to being Dundee United or some semblance of it, after 4 fucking years plus off abject failure and misery.
