Today I did something I have never done before --- had a peek at a BNB forum. One thread in particular caught my eye. It asked where the Dee was going wrong. Was it the manager? The owner? In my humble opinion they should be engaging the services of a shrink to relieve the chronic delusion that they are superior to United. That might help a little.
Either that or consider calling it a day and disbanding, thus saving the city's embarrassment. Mind you though, were that to happen they would be sorely missed by United for two reasons --- a huge source of fun and laughter, also the unquestionable acquisition of 12 good points per season. Although they would have to be in the same league as United for that to happen, which looks very unlikely.....
And if this post sounds like I am gloating, well, too fkn right I am!!!

If you want a really good laugh look at their thread from the last 6-2 game on thedarkblues. Goes from their typical, unjustified overconfidence to sheer hysteria and meltdown as the goals go in. Pure gold.

I’ve seen lots of comments from Dundee fans this season along the lines of “we have the best squad in the league”, when the table and results clearly say otherwise.
They remind me of us in our first season down in this 4 year rollercoaster. Think they are better than they actually are. Add in a rooky manager and that’s a recipe for a lot of disappointment.
Anyway, fuck them.

I still had a funster sit and try to convince me today that there’s nothing between the two squads. That our keeper was a bombscare, that their centre halves are better than ours, their left back is miles better than Jamie Robson and that Butcher’s no any better than Byrne or Jamie Ness and is nothing but a hammer thrower.
It actually beggars belief, no even 24 hours on from one of the most insipid performances I’ve seen from any team in our jolly in the Fundesliga, and already their back to deluding themselves that everything’s all right, that they’ve got the best squad in the league, and the dabs are just lucky and have conned, cheated and dived their way to the top of the league.
They’re fucking fodder, that’s all they’ve ever been, and it’s all they ever will be. Their proudest and greatest achievement was being fortunate enough that the league scheduling allowed them to be the team that put the final nail in our coffin during our worst ever season.

Their attendances are phucking shambolic as well, they all genuinely believed that us being relegated would see folk flooding back to Dens Park, and that “ah the dayglos would soon be spending their Saturdays flinging shite at each other in their caravans in East Angus”. In truth the gap in attendances is getting even bigger. Our average attendance is getting close to the levels we were getting in the Premier League, somewhere around 8500, and that’s without the Old Firm, Aberdeen and the Edinburgh clubs visiting twice a season, meanwhile, John Nelms does the Carlton Dance on the rare occasion they manage to get over 5000 through the gate.

How can any club give out free tickets with your season tickets for the biggest game of the season. They only had 7000 last night and that was including the freebies. They probably would have been embarrassed if they hadn’t but it doesn’t make good business sense. A well run club would make sure that this deal was not available for the derbies. These games are the seasons biggest money spinners. We proved this when we had over 14000 at the 6- 2 game. Mental!!

There was still at least 500 empty seats dotted around the Bobby Cox stand too.
As soon as we went 2 up the 'get it up the DABs daytrippers fucked off.

I think we’re still a bit away from average 8500 fans.

Weve only had one crowd over 8500 (the derby) biggest after that was 7900 against Dunfermline I think.

8,800 if you only count the league games
Our home crowds have been excellent this season. The recent matches against Arbroath and Morton were both over 8000. This is extremely encouraging.

You sure?
Arbroath was 7800ish
Morton was 7400ish.
Only crowd over 8000 was the derby.

I'd say b&t's figures are closer to the crowds announced at the games. Another thing, sometimes when the crowds are given at the games, I'm a wee bit surprised, thinking there was often a good bit less at the match.
But I can't think of a reason the club would do this, so I must be wrong.

I care, because one day they might, just might, get things right and give us a nasty shock! Can't see it myself, but stranger things have happened such as some of our results this season.....
ON TOPIC.
The Doon Derby in 2016 was the Fun's biggest event since winning the League Cup in 1974.
They had an opportunity to take City advantage of this but in the following three seasons they ended up 10th, 9th & 12th.
Imagine a solitary Derby win being the cause of your biggest celebration in 44 years.
They just can't help themselves.
Gloss over the financial times as well, it's just been misery all round.
Two or three of my friends, well two actually, are Funsters & I genuinely feel sorry for them.

I'm a stickler for facts, smedDUm: think you've got a few wrong here.
It was '73 Dundee won the league cup, although as it was December, 73-74 season. The following three seasons they were 6th, then relegated in 9th with the same points as us, then missed out on promotion in 3rd place in the second tier. Mind you, I don't think that's really very relevant.
I think DFC's selling policy around that time (John Duncan to Spurs, Jocky Scott to Aberdeen, George Stewart to Hibs, Gordon Wallace to a US team, Doug Houston to Rangers) coupled with Jim McLean settling in to Tannadice and improving our fortunes and the simple fact we got a point in our final match at Ibrox in 75-76 season were the events which put them firmly into second place in the city.
I've got a good pal who supports Dundee, and we've talked about this stuff quite often. I don't feel sorry for him, and doubt if he'd feel sorry for me if the roles were reversed.
It must be my syntax Founder.
I meant their league positions in the 3 seasons following the DD.
Their league positions in the three seasons post 73/74 has nowt to do with it.
I'll allow your pedantry re the LC final being December 1973 in the 1973/74 season.
To expand upon my point they had the opportunity to blossom in a league above us, top 6s, Euro spots even, but they were totally incapable and made a right mess of it. I think they may have had it now.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, and of course, I am a pedant....... Thank you for gifting me the chance to be fixated with facts.
They made a cunt of it then, and they've made a cunt of it now, possibly sums it up adequately.

No, you're right. However, these are big improvements on recent seasons attendances. And as of today the Fun's average league attendance is around 5700 and ours is 8500. The crowds are going up and that's good news.
