Was our best player when he came on. Maybe damning him with faint praise though.

... now, the funk soul brother. Hardly a badge of honour. Not the player of the match. The least shitey player.

Really hope Stevie Clarke gives him a start at Hampden on Sunday.
If he does I really fancy him to score as we will surely create chances.
Would be the first Dundee United player to score for Scotland since? Billy Dodds?

Andy Robbo against England I think

Not him just checked had just signed for hull
Then thought goodie against Spain but had just signed for Blackburn so might be right
So Laurence's odds for later today -
to score a goal - 3/20
to score 2 goals - 8/13
to score 3 goals - 2/1
when in the history of int'l football has a player making his starting debut been 2/1 to score a hat trick?
that's if he starts (or gets on even) but it seems that he is liable to start
great opportunity for him but heaps of expectation too
Good luck LoA!

He played well tonight and led the line well in what were atrocious conditions.
Delighted for him to get his goal. A lot of pressure on him tonight to score and if he never a few were waiting to put the boot in.
So GIRFU the lot of them.
p.s. 16 goals now for the season in mid October. Not to be sniffed at.

Thought Shanks had a good game and obviously getting the goal for his country will hopefully have a positive effect on the boy and benefit United, I was never one of the "he'll get a hat trick at least........it's only San Marino" brigade, when you play against lesser opposition whether it's amateur or professional abidy wants to have a pop at goal and get their name in the papers, which kinda limits your chances somewhat.
Great to see Laurence was 2nd (behind the obvious McGinn) in BBC sport Scotland's player rater on their website. And that after being top on Thursday despite playing 2nd half only.
Today he was ahead of Christie, McTominay & Robertson and by a good bit.
Seems he's shown up well on & off the field on his senior Scotland baptism & everyone seem to rate him.
Well done Stevie Clarke for giving him a game and a half & now welcome back to Tannadice Laurence. And now it's Palmerston...

He led the line very well tonight, looked every bit a part of the team. His movement off the ball and awareness are very good. He’s far too good for the championship, it worries me tbh.
But well done to the boy.

Especially as he wasn't treated as the target man by the rest of the team.
So many times he wasn't targeted, played in etc and players went for goal fae outside the box.
I think every player fancied a goal more than not wanting to play him in but it was driving me crazy at the match.

There were times he looked like the boy nobody liked, got in great position, then just ignored. Sure it wasnt deliberate.

Good points above, I was a wee bit frustrated that some players, especially McTominay, looked like they were playing for themselves rather than Scotland.
Was a wee bit worried when Shankland went down late on in the centre circle after being caught, just prior to Armstrong's free kick. Hope he's fine for Dumfries.

I was worried too.
But he looked fine thereafter, thankfully.
