Mal Brannigan talking with the BBC about the potential of switching to a Netflix-style subscription model of buying season tickets.
What would your thoughts be on United possibly using this model in the future? A lot of people simply don’t have £300+ to put down at once for a season ticket, would a model of say £25 a month for the lower tiers, maybe £30/35 for upper and say £15 a month for kids potentially be the way forward to getting the big crowds back at Tannadice on a regular basis?

Said it on here ages ago, a monthly direct debit is the way forward.

United already do that You pay monthly for next seasons ticket

Well utds individual match prices arnt going to attract folk on a regular basis. And if we go up theres no doubt theyll be bumped up again to a ridiculous price like some top league clubs are charging at the moment.

You should be paying monthly for now, not £300 Quid ahead, folks circumstances change and not everyone will be willing or able to pay a year up front.

I didn’t buy ST’s this year as circumstances dictate I can’t make it all the time. I used to just buy anyway, but the way the clubs been that loyalty went out the window. I’ll go when I can, but the PATG prices are way over the top.

Ive been paying 32 quid a month for years to make sure i dONT have to stump up in July/Aug every season

United already do this, I do it now, sure it was £100 at start of season then it’s been 44 a month till October? Canna mind the exact structure but I prefer this was pay a large chunk out the way and then pay up to just before December

£300 a ST, £25 even £27 a month every month. Not over 4/5 months would be what I’d suggest. It makes it more affordable for more people. It also becomes something you don’t think about, so when it’s renewal time you don’t even think about it or do anything it just happens.

Whatever United decide in the future, my thoughts are:
a) they should offer flexible arrangements, for example folk who want to buy a season ticket in a oner should be able to, fans wishing a few larger payments and to be paid up in , say, October too should be accommodated, and a subscription model too should be attempted.
b) gate prices, as others have said, are too high for this league. Doubt that will change this season, but next Mal & Co will have to be careful when pricing walk ups, as more telly games, plus matches against the Glasgow shits, dissuades people from going to certain games.
Feel free to disagree.

Totally right Pat. While I believe a DD over 12months is needed, I wouldn’t stop folk paying 12 months in a one-off either.
Same principles should apply to patg imo, make it possible however you want, buy online, buy a ticket at the shop or walk up to the turnstile with your card or cash.

Another thing on ticketing, kinda of a bit of a tangent, does anyone know if united go to the uni on freshers week and maybe try to attract students who maybe support a team in England etc and want something to do on a sat??? Not saying it would attract a huge crowd but there would certainly be a fair share who would be interested, just a idea

Not a bad shout actually and I don’t think they do.
Only thing is I remember starting uni a few years ago and in first year I found about 12 people who said football was there many interest and only 1 other who regularly went to his teams games and even he dropped to one every 3/4 weeks by new year of first year.

I hope someone from the club takes this up, a lot of potential customers who would develep hopefully into long term fans, I know of many people who found the love whilst at Uni or college back in the day that still travel from outside Dundee to matches on a regular basis. I hope they go around all the colleges and Unis in the area, great shout.

If she maybe wasn't blessed with good looks no-one would come on here and say she was a total munter. That WOULD be out of order.

You posting on the wrang thread Nemo or suggesting we pay her in installments?
To be serious though, I asked my wife to read the other thread for a wummins take(which I never do) as did oor Shed and her reply was exactly what you posted above.
Wife is also fae the same place as the lassie and suspects she won't be too offended but will appreciate the arguements going in the style they have.

as an aside, wasn’t there supposed to be a ‘loyalty points’ system in place to avoid a repeat of the St Mirren ticket fiasco?
I’ve bought away tickets and spent a small fortune in the club shop (as many others have).
I was of the impression that my card would get swiped in such circumstances and it would boost points on it.

They did say it wouldn't be ready in time for the start of the season. I doubt it will be in play this season.
A loyalty points system is not needed at Dundee Utd imo especially if we get promoted automatically this season.
To add. Spending money in the shop on tops etc should not boost your loyalty points for away tickets.

I’ve kept all my tickets from every away game this season just in case. Too late to implement now though and hopefully won’t be needed in any case.
Agree with Bowers that only buying away tickets should count towards loyalty points if we do eventually implement such a system.
