Head of Futba Admin and Legal Affairs

New Post at the Club.

https://www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk/news/6216/NEW-ROLE-CREATED-AT-TANNADICE.html

Given that I started the thread with good intention, but my off the cuff remark might have inadvertently led to guys on here having a go at ane another, something that I dont like to see, then I've removed my comment.

Apologies Tek.

Absolute weapon.  Too nice looking for WYOWYN.

Too much commotion

Re: Head of Futba Admin and Legal Affairs

Ignoring the WYOWYN nonsense. This is a relative kid with limited experience (2013 qualified). I am mystified as to why we would need such a role especially for someone with such limited experience. Pissing Mr Ogrens money against the wall seems to be the order of the day. The more I hear the more I think that Mr Ogren is being taken for a ride.

As someone who’s employed dozens of folk over the years, I absolutely hate this “kid with limited experience” shite.
How else do people get experience if no one will employ them and to borrow a football phrase “if you’re good enough you’re old enough”.

Some of the best people I’ve gave jobs too over the years were kids with no experience.

I do agree there’s a question of why it’s necessary, but I’m sure she’s not just there for her looks and I’m pretty sure Mr Ogren will be signing off on any appointments like this.

I wouldn't like to think the Ogren's are being taken a rise out of: to me it would make little sense.

For one, Mark built up a business, I'd assume through not being gullible.

Secondly, who at the club would make such an appointment? You'd think it would perhaps be Mal Brannigan, if it wasn't Mark Ogren himself. What would Malachy have to gain out of making a pointless position available at a business at which he is Managing Director?

I'd agree, Finn, that I don't really know what someone appointed to such a role will have as a detailed portfolio, but then I'm not a business person. Quite a few of the appointments made since the takeover puzzled me until I realised the club were trying to attain a higher status for the SFA's Project Brave scheme (which I reckon is absolute pish).

But to the appointee herself, given her age she appears to have specialised knowledge of contractual based sport legislation, and regulatory behaviours, and, maybe wrongly, I'm assuming her role is considered quite normal in a US sporting scenario. And her experience isn't limited to Scotland, which illustrates the club is forward, outward looking to the future.

Yeah, I agreePat. I was just about to post that in my opinion the appointment would probably be linked to the club trying to achieve elite status in this project brave scheme.

The lassie, rather obviously unaccustomed to speaking to a camera, is understandably nervous, and is ad libbing. Give her a chance.

BTW, this WYWYN shit is totally out of order!  Don't forget....she can read!!

Shed, you’re entitled to your opinion, but as someone used to hiring lawyers and running a law firm so am I.

I’ve no doubt that the lady is more than competent, but experience in this field is wholly relevant.

Of course experience is relevant, but there’s plenty other things need to be taken into account.  Dismissing someone because of little experience alone is wrong in any job.

Comments like “kid with little experience” piss me off because I hear stuff like that about good people all the time and they’re often overlooked for someone who’s done a job for 20 years relatively poorly, but they’re experienced.  Someone has to take a chance for folk to get experience, just like I’m sure someone did for you.

Jeez must be tough being so touchy. Guess someone overlooked you at some point. I’d explain why my point is relevant, but it’s not worth the bother clearly.

When you got started who gave you your first job?  Were you a kid with limited experience?
I already said experience is relevant,  but as I said above that alone is not a reason to rubbish someone as you did in your post.

Oh and I’m one of the lucky ones, I’ve never been overlooked, but I do see plenty of how younger people today are treated by prospective employers and it’s shit.

I respect women. Some here, including yourself, obviously do not. As admin of this forum you should be ashamed to permit sexist remarks. What if someone said such things about your wife, sister, daughter, mother? How would you treat that? How do you think the group's female members (if there are any) feel reading such comments? Or do you believe it is quite in order to act like a sniggering schoolboy?

No-one mentioned hate. Sure, your Mum's a woman, and you love her. But surely women in general deserve respect? Tell you what.......show your Mum this thread, ask her what she thinks of it.
