What do these fellow football people ( managers, players, chairmen etc) actually intend to achieve by such statement's?

A bit strange, I suppose managers get asked these questions all the time, maybe just want to avoid getting into a war of words. White lies etc.

Managers get the sack far too early in modern football so I guess they say that in the hope the trend will be buckled and all managers will get more time.

Football is full of clichés and cleeks, wouldn't it be refreshing sometimes to hear something different being asked or a different awnser being given, it's been a while since a reporter got a dab in the pus for pushing that button and all we hear now is the same repotoir. TBH i should have just put this on "the things that annoy me thread" for what it's worth.

TBH it's exactly like manager's anodyne comments on their players after they've fucked up (the players that is).
