DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Formation and starting XI for tomorrows visit of the Spartans?

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

I'd like to see:

Walton
Rawlins Esselink Forbes Ferry
Camara Eskesen Tait
Sapsford Idjessi Randall

I think based on performances so far this is probably our best team. We really need to run up a score on Tuesday to be in with a chance of qualification, particularly since we're not playing Saturday like everyone else, so setting a marker to force other teams to chase is the only way. Bring Leiper on once Spartans start to tire and maybe the new Algerian boy the last 20 minutes if he's anywhere near fitness.

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Strongest team, emphasis on getting the ball into the box quicker, we need to win this handsomely, but I think Spartans will sit in, so we might not be able to play through them.

Ferry and Rawlins almost played like wingers the other night, more of that please.

We could do with a big win similar to Saturday, no messing about with the squad or subs until the game is won.

Yeah a 3-4 goal win and Arbroath winning by a couple would be ideal. Goodwin aware we need a few goals as well judging by his pre match interview.

Sassetti on the bench, wow wasn't expecting that. Is he even registered to play?

Or is this just to ensure we dont lose him for nothing?

Apart from that, a few changes from the weekend so lets hope we get a convincing win.

Sizzling Sassetti strikes stunning solo debut goal 😄

Decent strength on that bench.

Do you have any idea how he's able to play though? If hes not old enough to sign a contract and Italian giants are supposedly about to snatch him away for fuck all I am a bit puzzled.

No, but someone will know. Maybe he's signed.

I hope thats the case, can't wait to see if he gets a run out tonight

I won't be happy with anything less than a 4 goal margin but hopefully this time we do assert our premiership credentials and give them a hiding 🤞

Lorenzo Sassetti would become United's youngest ever player if he comes on for his debut.

Excited to see him.

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Well I suppose I should be glad I can't watch us labouring yet again. Montrose winning again btw

Montrose pissing it against Arbroath, best we get is second in a group we should have walked through. Anyone thinking that result on Saturday is the beginning of a new dawn needs a rethink. We should have won this group with a plus 20 goal difference and now we are gonna be lucky if we scrape through in 2nd place

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Massively frustrated, DUTV posted fucking missing. 1-0 simply not enough, doesn't matter whether or not it could of been more,it fucking needs to be more.  Sick to death of us labouring to beat teams from lower divisions and its really not a great sign of things to come. Fingers out time!

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Well Montrose winning means best we are likely to get is a best 2nd place. Once I actually got to watch the game it was all United especially after the subs. Good fir the new boys to get on the scoresheet again and glad Sapsford got his goal. Nice to see the young lads getting their chance again too. Passing is still pretty sloppy on the whole though and needs to get better. My biggest moan though is once again Goodwin starting the game looking not to lose a goal instead of starting the game the way we finished it. But, having said that, it is his best result against the Spartans.

Having looked at the other results, I would say our chances of getting through are slim but probably not as slim as it has been in the past. Should never have come to this though and thats the real disappointment.

I was trying to watch on my Amazon stick but the Dundee United channel just would not work, managed to find it later on a random football channel instead just in time for the second half

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Decent win tonight but we could’ve done with another goal or 2.

Iovu and Forbes seem to be forming a good partnership. Tait looks like he always wants on the ball. Randall likes to get down the wing and Rose put himself about with a couple of poachers finishes.

Great to see Cohen on again with a cracking assist and also nice to see young Lorenzo on.

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Apart from the 1st 15mins of the 2nd half the team played well tonight. It really should have been more than 4 goals, whether it will be enough to get through is debatable.
Walton made his 1st save of the group stages tonight if you add in that we dominated all 4 games it’s pretty dire that it looks like we’re out.

Re: DUFC vs Spartans - Tuesday 21st July (7.45PM)

Rose Tait and Forbes look like massive upgrades on last season especially Forbes- really been impressed with him in all the games- makes defending look easy.

Randall looked more lively in the last 30 mins, not sure in keen on him on the right looks miles better on the left. Sapsford lively.

Naamo is a full back- miles better with the ball in front of him- never a winger. Actually think that performance tonight puts him ahead of Rawlins for me- really tidy on the ball is Naamo and does actually have a turn of pace, saft as shite though.

Eskesen decent again, gets stuck in for a wee lad

Not looking good that we’ll progress which is a shambles tbh
